Some England persons liked to make peace with Germany. So Germany was the line of defence against the Russians. From who they tought should be a bigger problem.

I also like historic fiction, I can recommend "Years of rice and salt -Kim Stanley Robinson" and "The pride of Carthage -David Anthony Durham"

I didn't know that, but I'm not surprised. Neither Borges liked football. Great artists, but without a clue on what art really is :P

I like it too get lost for a few days in a book every once in a while. I read Rural Geography by Michael Woods at the moment, but that's for study. After my exams I will start with Guns, Germs en Steel by Jared Diamond. A writer who's able to write books with much information in an interesting way. Also a bit study-related.
