They used to have a small one, but it is taken down now. Don't know what they are planning to build there now.

It wasn't really a campus. A campus university has all its buildings on its terrain and a substantial amount of student is living on that terrain as well. As far as I know Twente is the only campus university in the country.

Campus universities are a lot more common in Britain.

I suppose that a university can have campuses anyway? Or else the term differs from country to country. At my university (University of Copenhagen) there are four campuses: City Campus, Northern Campus (da: Nørre Campus), Southern Campus (da: Søndre Campus) and Frederiksberg Campus - despite the buildings and hence campuses are spread out in all of central Copenhagen and none of the students live at these areas.

Campus has a different meaning from place and even companies can have campuses. When talking about campus universities we refer to universities where all academical facilities are hosted and where a substantial amount of the student is living and where also numerous secondary facilities are hosted. For example at my university we have a dentist, a physiotherapist, a barber, a travel agency, a supermarket, multiple restaurants and bars, sports centre with multiple football/hockey and basketball fields and a climbing wall, an employment agency and probably multiple other facilities I forgot to mention.

Hey, I applied 1,5 month ago to ISE.
And they agreed me for SLEP exam.
If I would be successful in SLEP exam, I can go Canada next year(for 1 education year) or I can go USA 2 years later(1 edu. year too) and its price is 9500€
But my family is worried for me coz one year with a stranger family and in a strange country, you know it must be hard.. :/
Do you know, how is it? Is it hard or do you know another student exchange programmes? (other than AFS)

And I am 13 now (1997)

I little young maybe, possibly a 2 week exchange possibly to see what they country is like but 1 year is a bit much.
2010-10-09 22:11:23
Well i think you're really too young. It can be hard for you to leave your home for one year.
2010-10-10 08:10:41
Your mummy won't be able to tuck you into bed at night :)
2010-10-10 18:24:42
But ISE doesnt say that :D
Whatever do you know somethng?
2010-10-12 07:05:43
9.5k? Rotfl...better wait till you are a student at a university and then go for free...

atm you're maybe a bit too young, my friend went to USA for half a year at the age of 16 I guess and he was fine...but 14yo? A bit tricky. For how long have you been away from parents at most till now? At least 3 weeks?
2010-10-12 18:47:52
3 weeks but on the prepared trip with someone who could look after for him. I think it is too much for 14yo person to travel to ANOTHER CONTINENT for student exchange but well world is for brave people ;)
2010-10-12 20:15:58
oh your thoughts are right
my family thinks like you :S
and i'll go usa or canada this summer for 1 month..

Because your parents are more reasonable than you, you must understand that in that age it's really early to travel around the world, especially if you don't have to do this. Of course it can be amazing trip but it can be also unpleasent journey, think about it :)
