our chances are intact, we have a difficult match today, nothing is impossible, its 11 men vs 11 men running behind a ball, we have nothing to loose, holland does, their 2 year invict, the chance of being kings for the first time, the chance to be again in a final just by beating an exotic latinamerican country jajajajajajajaja
we love to be the "weakest" of the 4
uruguay is living a dream
3 million people are having a good time round here
and today, after the match, we r going to celebrate, whatever the destiny has designed for us!
we r small sized but very big hearted
salu

"and today, after the match, we r going to celebrate, whatever the destiny has designed for us!"

I do the same :D Holland is a bigger country then Uruguay, but it is also a lot smaller then Brazil, Italy, England, France, USA, Argentina and many others that aren't in the tournament anymore :) So I am very happy allready.

in square km uruguay is bigger.
2010-07-06 15:39:16
No... you play Netherlands + Surinam, so you are bigger ;)

BTW, sq km, population, or population density are useless compared with cultural values. And here in Uruguay football is treated like you would treat a war in a history book. We breathe football, we drink football... every street has children playing football (well... PSP is doing a mess with this :P), and we know that we are most known in the world because of this, so football is already part of our culture.

Imagine those stories about the weak beating the powerfull that any country has in his history books. Well, ours is the Maracanazo, and Obdulio Varela (the captain of 1950) simbolizes conviction and strenght of will.

Surinam is since 1975 a seperate country. It has its own FA and no connection with Holland anymore.
2010-07-06 15:52:36
It was a joke. I am refering that many dutch players do not share most of dutch cultural values because they were born in other countries or in colonies with a very small cultural connection with the metropoly. You just use them because they are allowed to play for the dutch federation.
2010-07-06 16:03:35
All dutch players are born in the netherlands, what you are referring to is old news most players are 2nd or 3rd generation immigrants.
2010-07-06 16:07:26
Okey, it was a joke. Do not take it so seriously. I didnt expect you to discuss about it: it was obvious for me that you would understand my point.
2010-07-06 16:11:26
Go Netherlands!! Go Holland!! Go Nederland!! Uruguay cheats too much.
2010-07-06 16:20:04
Uruguay cheats too much.

¿Cheats? I really dont understand.

The foul that ended in Suarez hand was not foul (no replay was shown btw, but you can watch it in youtube if FIFA doesnt blocks for the third time the images showing that Fucile doesnt even touch the player). The Ghanese player that first heads the ball was in clear offside.

And in the end, Suarez blocked a shot with his hands, a penalty kick was given to Ghana and Suarez was sent off the pitch. What else do you want???!!!!

Do you tell "cheater" to every country that makes a foul in the center of the field? Because what Suarez did is a violation to the rules just like the foul made in the center of the pitch. He is not to blame for the consequences of what he did. He did what anybody would do in his place.
2010-07-06 16:40:07
Sorry for being so harsh, but I think FIFA should start using technology and change rules to accomodate penalty goals. Too many problems with referee decisions in this World Cup and previous European competitions. Ghana should have received penalty goal and not just a penalty kick and France should not have even been allowed to play at World Cup!
2010-07-06 16:54:12
Ok, I understand, but you want to change the rules. I may agree with that, but we didnt cheat with THIS RULES. At least our cheat is the same cheat that any other foul or hand in a football match (and we already paid the consequences).
2010-07-06 17:00:23
France didn't get any points due to bad karma, let's see what happens to Uruguay.
2010-07-06 17:06:32
oh come on! I am a keeper and i would EXPECT any of my players to do exactly the same thing as the urugyan player did in the last minutes of any competition. Lets face it so would ALL of humanity.

The guy had a chance to score the penalty and blew it - hence the outcry.

The urugyan player did not cheat the Ghana player blew it - simple!
