Yeah, indeed. Eventually the sun is going to die, just like any other star, but it will definitely not become a supernova. It's not heavy enough for that to happen.

You'll see that whenever that's going to happen a very rare event takes place and the comet will tunnel through the earth.
the story about the amyan calendar is totally hoax, when mayan calendar ends, it does not mean the end of the world, but that the calendar starts from the beginning, already happened 4 times in the history or so... :-)
