Subject: »Climate Change and Global Warming

I don't understand your part about the snow in London. In case you mean that that's evidence that nothing is happening, I would like to point you at the heatwave in Australia.

greenhouse gases are are the effect of the sun, not the cause...
This is a really stupid phrase. What does come out of the exhaustion pipe of a car then? Chanel no.5? :P It's quite obvious that there are a lot of greenhouse gases which originate from non-natural processes. The amount of CO2 in the air at Mauna Loa, Hawaii, has increased with at about 25% since 1960.

Have you read about positive and negative feedback? A fluctuation in the sun over a certain threshold can cause effects on earth to take place. However, with the CO2 emissions by humanity we're having an influence on that feedback system. I don't have to tell you that intervention in a stabile system might have dangerous effects.

"What does come out of the exhaustion pipe of a car then?"
man made CO2 is about 0.0000000000000001 of the problem... the most CO2 comes from the oceans, and still even that is about 0,03 of the the problem ... there is a problem, there is no denying that, but A: its not man made, B: there is nothing at all - humas can do about it.
"Hell on Earth" is going to happen anyway... "hell" as in unberable heat & fires :-P

the 2 days of snow in London was a example of a over-exagerated panic due to weather changes, London stoped... for 2 days... losing £700.ooo ...and people behaved as if they were playing out scenes from the movie "day after tommorow" because "they though" that it was a major problem. were as in fact: it was only 2 days of 25cm of snow... which could only leave me, along with the "snow-understanding cultures" ;-) Swiss, Austrians, Norwiegians & so on... laughing... to bits.
Same is happening with "Global Warming" only on a global scale as opose to "London Town" vs Snow. ;-)

The CO2 levels at the Hawaii Mountain rose by a quarter over the last 50 years. According to you, 0.0000000000000001 is human induced and 0,03 is by the ocean. I'm still missing at around 0,96999999999999999 of the CO2 rise...

The snow thing is quite common, if there were no climate change problem at all, London would still be stopped for two days, as they're not used to it, they don't have the equipment to handle these problems.

some near eruption volcano.. I don't know... :-P my point was: that there is no escaping "global warming", and whatever humans do about it, its never going to be enough, as we are completely insignificant to what's happening. The rate and scale of the problem in time, is also exagerated far too much. "there is no problem, until you create one" -thats my view on that. ;-P

yeah just think how much green house gases, it took to get us out of the ice age. damn those mammoths and their ferrari's. its all ok though, the sun is apparently mean't, to blow up in a few billion years. untill then we will have to create a new age it can be called- the no polar ice cap age!

lets not worry about it, as you say the sun will fizz out and killer asteroids will come anyways, lets live for the moment and forget about the future for a change.

... ever thought of getting kids, and their kids ? (others do)

Good question!

hang on whats that got to do with global warming? oh yeah more population which equals more people using energy. i wouldn't worry about global warming, either way earth will be destroyed sometime in the next billion years. if it isn't the magnetic field collapsing, causing the atmosphere to disappear, which is the theory behind mars atm. its the sun blowing up or astroids colliding.

yes i should be out sunbathing not building a snowman :p

That's a quite easy way to give yourself a rational ground to be egoistic. The point is, there is a whole lot that can be done by things that have a small or no impact on your life.

@ Jasiom: We differ quite a lot in the percentage. I can't see us meeting somewhere in the middle :P

A lot ... forget about the future for a change.

F**k everyone who doesn't live now, we will make sure nothing is left, even for our kids !! How nice ... And the second gift is a destroyed world.

What this has to do with climate change: the world isn't something that will always be like this no matter what WE do. I can't believe people can think that way.

If I might add: it is not only about our children and humanity, it is also responsibility for all the other life on earth :) So it is nothing to take lightly. The effects of co2 on rising temperatures is scientific proven, it is nothing scientists do still argue about. So we know there is a problem. Of course this is not the only problem, humans caused for planet earth, but it surely is one that will cause a lot of problems in the near future.

So lets go out and plant some trees. ;)

"So lets go out and plant some trees. ;) "
now that's something I can agree on... :-P

...as for the exact percentage's, and our great grand grand grand grand kids, I believe they will have time to make their own decisions, and their own solutions (that we can't even think of...), ...to incoming actual problems... the "Global Warming" hype is so exagerated that by the time it really kicks in, we might have some futuristic bubbles around whole cities ;-) (which are in danger of being flooded) ;-P

who knows... "time is on our side" ;-P

My only suggestion to my gran-kids will be: don't buy property in Venice, Thailand or anywhere too close to the sea, even Holland... ;-P
...that just made me think... how ridiculous and stupid those fake dubai palms/islands are... what a waste of time and money... :-/

still 20/30/40 cm per 100 years is not that bad... ;-)
