Actually it's expected that the global warming will make Western and Northern Europe colder. The melting of icebergs will affect the Gulf Stream that usually keep our part of the world a bit warmer than it otherwise would be. Not that it has to be the reason why it's cold right now, just telling ya :)

Well the main problem with understanding global warming seems to be that humans tend to search for evidence in their local town and if it is snowing there in winter (even if it did that already in last few years), they take that as evidence against it ;) the effects are global so you have to look at every little town and make a mean in difference over the years. Second point is, that it is not 2 degrees in one year but that it is only a small difference, a difference so small that we humans may not feel that difference over the years. But fact is, it is happening and that there will be serious consequences for example for your country if we ignore it ;) But I guess for many people this is just too abstract.
I think that is sad, because I think that it will be very hard to "go back" if we only react as soon as problems are already here. Because I think then it already is too late to react at all. Quite ironic that we humans think we are so much "smarter" than animals and are able to make something so incredibly stupid that it tops everything any animal could ;)

You have at the moment in UK a preview of what would be the normal climate in UK in the future if the global warming isn't stopped!

Well, lets say it like that: THAT global warming is happening, is something that no country does deny. That's why almost every country had their people at copenhagen and of course every country did look at the facts with their own scientists. I think that should be enough.
Damn it must have been hard for scientists to make everyone believe that sicknesses do spread through little parts like viruses and bacteria that we cannot see. Even if you made the effort to look through evidence and different papers and really know something there is no way to show this to others other than showing graphs and pictures out of those papers. It is just not something you can really show people..

About gulf stream. I don't remember when this was first published. I think it is a bit over the top and not likely that gulf stream will not totally shut down. Still reduce is likely.
