And what is so shocking about it...?
It's the doctrine of catholic church, big deal...
It's the doctrine of catholic church, big deal...
What is shocking about it is someone dares to say this absolute nonsense, and also shocking is he still getting supported by another complete loony who can become the next president of one of the largest nations in the world :S
Very strange btw the republicans have so many rape-quote lovers! :S
Oh, this Mourdock idiot is a protestant if I'm correct and the other one a mormon, so it's the doctrine of (fundamentalism) christianity we are talking about.

Why is that shocking? How is it called again? Oh yes, freedom of speech.

Freedom of speech doesn't mean you have to say everything that comes into your sick mind, specially not when you say it to the complete nation as a public person like that nutter is. Besides, this is again a great example of politics + religion = a disaster.
I have to say that I think that what Mourdock said sounded worse than it probably was. I believe that he meant that life is something God intended. But he put it in the wrong context and it got so wrong. I think he also corrected himself just after because he realised that it came out wrong.
You know I agree on the disaster thing. What freedom of speech does mean is that he's allowed to say that. So asking how he dares to say that is just the wrong question.
It wasn't a question but a judgment of mine :)
All republicans of the past few weeks talking about rape sound worse when they say things about it, but it wasn't a mistake as it really is what he stands for. The only mistake he realised he made was to say it up loud as it can affect the position of romney. And also it wasn't a coincidences it happened again a republican said something like this about rape, if you ask me. Some are just really sick people with their idiot ideas and views.

Although I am not religious and therefore most certainly not a religious conservative (you know that), some things should be put in a context. For instance, the "Gift-from-God rape": It's not the rape that their god intended to happen, it's life that their god intended to happen. So yeah, they say things that seam totally mental, but sometimes it's not entirely what they were aiming for. Sometimes, one just says something and then realizes: "that sounded bad and it's not what I meant".
Which doesn't make them less retarded of course ;-)

I still don't see what is all this fuss about.
This is normal doctrine of Christian Church, if you ask any bishop, archbishop etc. about it - he WILL tell you the exact same thing but in different words...
typical October anti-campaign, what I'm shocked is that Charles has fallen in for this one :)

not in every country the catholic church can say that even they think that, if whole society is against this doctrine, like doctrine of condoms, then catholic church gets quiet about it, like it happens here
Besides, this is again a great example of politics + religion = a disaster.
Example is just an example. It's a single incident. It shows absolutely nothing about not even correlation and let alone causality. But your conclusion shows your prejudiced bigotry quite well.
And nevertheless, your whole logic on this issue is totally twisted. It is quite possible, and quite reasonable and fair for that matter, to be against in vitro fertilization and against rape and still be also against abortion even when any of those 2 actions results in conception of a person.
An embryo will have a life unless an unforeseen accident occurs. A sperm or an ovum will not. So, a forcible termination of an embryo's life is also a termination of that person's unforeseeable future life. That is actually murder. Being legal or not, it's a death penalty.
When we legally prevent people from performing such murderous actions, as we also prevent people from performing rape, we are actually defending all of such possible victims' right to freely have their lives. We are actually preventing other people from deciding whether these unborn persons' lives deserve a chance to be lived or not.
Embryos being sitting ducks without their own voice is actually the strongest factor in making abortions legal. That's how democracy works. It ratifies the will of majority. Legal abortion is a bully action against the weakest form of human life there is. Our legal systems forcibly remove people from existence before they even get the chance to say anything about anything and let alone "I'm alive and I like it!" which is probably the translation of most baby talk :).
Wouldn't you agree that many people today would be greatly thankful if they knew they owe their life to the fact that their abortion was illegal? Is there and could there ever really be a greater thankfulness than that coming from people who are convinced they actually benefit from legalized abortions? And could those people ever righteously regret for not being allowed to make an abortion when 20 years later they are found looking in the eyes of those now grown up embryos? When western democratic majority answers these question wrongly and votes accordingly, that doesn't make those answers right but only prevailing.

If I were born out of a rape/insane parents/any other kind that gives you a shit and unhappy life ? No thanks dude, thank god(oh the irony) they did abort me !
Why is it that most of the people who are against abortion are people you wouldn't want to fuck in the first place, huh? Boy, these conservatives are really something, aren't they? They're all in favor of the unborn. They will do anything for the unborn. But once you're born, you're on your own. Pro-life conservatives are obsessed with the fetus from conception to nine months. After that, they don't want to know about you. They don't want to hear from you. No nothing. No neonatal care, no day care, no head start, no school lunch, no food stamps, no welfare, no nothing. If you're preborn, you're fine; if you're preschool, you're fucked.
The honorable George Carlin RIP.
