Congratulations to american people. They have made a big step forward.

Huge victory for Barrack Obama, but when looking at the amount of votes he got and the amount of votes McCain got it's a much less significant win. 59 million against 53 million, so far.

IMO Obama will provoke a big hatred in some people (he's not quite white and he has kind of self-reflection thinking). I wonder if he can live till the end of his duty. Not that I personally despise him, quite otherwise, but you know, the world is full of mad people...

Obama should be shot soon and it should not be by mad people....look on JFK, there are many theories

What I dont get is american voting system. You should get more votes but lose:))
2008-11-05 10:04:26
I believe it's quite simple. It's who gets the most votes in a district will get the complete district.
2008-11-05 11:46:32
But indeed, you are able to get more votes in total, but still lose.

it is good that senate and house of parliament also has majority in chairs ... so congress is also behind him, that's a littele advantage I think ..

Great day in America.
The democrats have the president and the majority in the parliament, this is surely as important as the president :)
Now we see what the future brings. I hope that Barack Obama can help America to be a big nation again. The last 8 years were horrible, they lost their face in the world and the financial problems are huge. Now its time to change ;)
2008-11-05 11:55:25
hehe, still it is more fair, transparent and democratic than here in Czech rep. ;) (for those unfamiliar with our system - parliament and senate vote for president not the people - which then makes kind of political charade when parties demonstrate their power and the candidates themselves and also public opinion are secondary...)

Here in the Netherlands you can vote for the municipal council, the provincial states, the second chamber, the European Union and if you have interest in the water control board. The first chamber is elected by the provincial states and the minister president (prime minister) is, just like the council of ministers, elected by the second chamber, but in reality this is often the leader of the biggest party. So it's basically the same here.
