I like some of their songs a lot, but now I listen more to metal and gothic music.

Aha,ok.I think that R.E.M. is a great band because they make good music.Their songs are very good,the music and melody of their songs makes me happy and it helps me to look at the other side of difficult things,problems.I dont know if you understood me but yeah thats all:)And Im very happy that somebody write here something:)

Yes I can understand it. I am personal go more for the song then a group or singer. It is not that a particular singer has a song I like it because he made it.
