The game is just very different so you can't really say one is better than the other, you can like one better than the other but its just your individual preference.
I like NFL better than rugby as I think they have the better athletes.

"I like NFL better than rugby as I think they have the better athletes. " EH? athletes who can run for how long? 20 seconds max before getting a 5 minute rest....going to have to totally disagree, and i am an American Footie fan btw i like the razzamatazz and the blitz, pocket etc but hell Athlete?? no way. I suppose "the fridge" could have been thought of as an athlete
you got the point

American Football is all about strategy, not about kill people or poles XD

Anyone going to watch the 6nations cup (rugby of course)?
I've seen many matches in Rome and a couple in Dublin :)
(matches with Italy, of course)

You really can't compare Rugby and American Football as they are too different. It is like comparing the 100m sprints with a marathon (and whichever you prefer is a personal choice).
NFL is all about explosivity - short bursts of energy where you have to deliver your maximum performance in short periods of 5-10 seconds. Rugby is about endurance - wearing the opposition down and giving it you all the whole match.
An NFL player in a Rugby match would deliver a few crunching tackles and then fade away as he got tired. A Rugby player in an NFL match would probably never get in on the action (as it happens too fast) and after the game he wouldn't even be breaking sweat.
So hooray for the differences - I myself prefer NFL as I find it to be one of the most tactically interesting sports to follow... I live next to an Irish Pub and they'd probably take Rugby over NFL any day ;-)
