Another Greece? What's the difference between Arsenal's match last week and Villarreal's match today, and vice-versa? :-?

Although I always claimed that Greece was a fair champion, I think this case is different, because we're not talking about styles all that different.

I'd claim Arsenal have the proven potential to open it up in the final against Barcelona or Milan and defeat either of those teams, putting up a similar performance to what we saw in match one against Juventus. Villareal on the other hand has not attained that level of class and despite their seemingly worthy performance in the Champions League I'd contend they are far more likely to fall very short of what Arsenal can do, and will do barring a failure which I doubt will be the case, should be a contested and great final.

I don´t want to be rude, but have you kicked a penalty in your life or in USA just use those aweful shoots out(one on ones) like in MLS(i know that they only do that when teams tied, cause united staters don´t like to tie). Riquelme is my fauvorite player, but Lehmann just saved the penalty cause Riquelme shoot it badly, was mostly in center of the goal and without strengh. A i saw him shooting lots of penalties, even in most difficult situations like a Boca vs. River derby for Copa Libertadores de America on quarter finals or the final match against, Palmeiras vs. Boca in Brazil on an arena full of brazilians, and he is good at it cause he is a hell of shooter, plus he has guts. But i don´t know what happened to him today, i saw it on his face, that he wasn´t confident, he always has a face of "poker" not happy, not sad, not worried, it´s a face without expression, but today i saw him worried.
I think there is already a team that plays like Greece, and it´s named Arsenal, they barely shoot one time today and almost didn´t pass the midfield in the whole match. Villarreal deserved to win this game, plus the referee didn´t whistled a penalty for Villarreal on the first half over Arruabarrena, and in England the referee didn´t whistled another penalty for Villarreal.

Did they have to do anything more? Who went through?

I dont want to be rude or anything but a sane manager would play stalling if they had won the first match.

I agree with you that the penalty was poorly taken. I can almost kick it more powerful than him.

Vilarreal had more chances and I think they deserve to be in extra-time. Then you will see Arsenal come out and really play like they did in the first game.

Arsenal will do much better against Barcelona or Ac Milan.. Villareal just aren't goood enough.

I say the worse miss of the game was Forlans open goal. I would have gotten it in myself. :)

I think you guys are wrong. You cannot compare Arsenal with the Greek national team. Arsenal had a defensive tactit and they did the job. They were solid in the defensive. They didn`t conceded a goal yesterday, too. This was the 10th match in the raw without conceding a goal.

Arsenal is a TOTAL different team than Greece. Greece were effective on set pieces likes corners and free kicks etc. Arsenal is an attacking-team, wihich Greece wasn`t, but not yesterday, because they were too afraid to concede a goal. I can understand that. I`m was a little bit disappointed.

But they managed to reach the final! :D
Well done Wenger & Co. :D

Why? I LOVE to see the underdog beat the major sides because of the major sides' arrogance and lack of respect! I cheered for Greece all from the group stage of the Euro 04, and my grin was from ear to ear when they beat both the cheaters (Czech Rep) and the sissies (Portugal).. :)

I´m not against playing defensive style, in fact Arsenal playing offensively previous editions of the Champions League didn´t even reach semi-finals. But this year are playing to not receive goals first and then to try to scored some. But yesterday Villarreal diserved more, there´s this miss that you said from Forlan, and there are like 3 clear chances from Franco, that in only time that he score was when he was off-side. So yesterday the only one who seems alike Greece was Arsenal not Villarreal like tactics said.
Another reason why the penalty is poorly taken, is because if the keeper tries to guess where are you gonna shoot it and you see when he is throwing himself, you have to change the side to where you are shooting.
