I used to leave my stereos on quite loud sunday mornings if I had to work and there was some noise during the night...they had to listen 8 hours really bad synthesizer music during my working day...

and the moral of the story is: if your neighbour has a powerful stereo system, just buy yourself a more powerful one:P
