Totally agree with you. If Russia wants to destroy/conquer Estonia, or Finland, they will do it. If Russia someday starts war I will be in first plane to New Zealand or Canada ;) I love my country but not that much that I would stay here and get killed..
Don't know how its in Estonia, and other countries but in Finland men have three options: military service (6 months to 1 year) and civil service (1 year). If you don't choose one of those two, third option is to go to prison (1 year I think). I'd say thats not right, everybody should have the right to do whatever he wants with that military service thing. I also find it wrong that peacelovingflowerpower hippie has to lose double days compared to some triggerhappy redneck..

Btw how many people do u think are in prison in ur country for that? For example one of my dad's friend, swedish guy, wasn't interested in going to army. So he basically accepted that he has to go to prison. He recieved a letter that the prison guys will take him away after few days. So he waited but no one never came. So no prison no fine no army service for him. Was he just lucky? Or perhaps is that prison thing just to scare people to motivate them to accept the military service?

Actually, I still don't know :p When I was 18 I asked in draft (or whatever its called) if I could get 3 years (thats maximum) delay because of my "studies". I got 3 years. Then when I was 21 I asked another 3 years and thats what I got again. Then at 24 I again asked 3 years. They said nevermind, I don't have to do military service, civil service or time in prison.. They didn't say why, and I didn't ask.. Nothing wrong with my health or physical appearance so I guess my very anti-social appearance impressed them.. :p What a great day that was :)

Finnish War Resisters thing said in wikipedia that there was 40-80 people every year (1999-2006) who didn't do military or civil service. But I'm not sure were they all in prison or not, couldn't find any info about that, sorry. Oh, and it seems that maximum prison time is 181 days and not 1 year, although one finnish rap artist got 197 days in 2005. Maybe things have changed since then..
