No, you didn't understand.
Science doesn't aim at anything, people practising science aim at something.

Yes it does, the word itself makes it explicit. Science, thaken from the Latin word for knowledge.
It's not like science is some form of relaxation before we get on with real business.
before we used the word 'science', we used the word 'natural philosophy' which, in my opinion, better describes the search for knowledge.
True. Until only a couple of centuries ago, philosophy encompassed all scientific research, even physics and biology.
science is a name given by humans to the process where people search to improve their tools. Knowledge came much later when people wanted to understand their tools so that they could make them even better.
True, mostly. The Ancient Greeks were most likely the first to be actually interested in knowledge itself, rather than the usefulness of it. Astronomy (Mesopotamia) and geomotry (Egypt) allready existed before the Greeks learned of it, but, as you put, they were merely used to improve their tools. Funnily enough, these tools were religions. Mesopotamians believed their Gods to be among the stars, and Egypt needed to be able to build perfectly shaped pyramids for their pharaos who were revered as Gods.

Science without people practicing it is an empty shell, a meaningless term, don't you think? Imo, the definition of science is the practice of it.

Science also includes the usefulness of things without the inclusion of an understanding of things around us.
You mean like subatomair particles, or practically impossible but theoretically needed things like tachyons?
:) quite close to my way of thinking. Neither do I know how the Universe was created. But the Big Bang theory is more believable than some god who took his magic wand and created the Universe and an apple that was at the beginning of the Universal sin.
Or you could, you know, comprise and conclude that the Big Bang was Gods magic wand :)
I don't know. For me the Big bang could also have been created by some creature, what do we know (so also here no contradiction)? For me both things "randomly just a big bang that created all matter and anti-matter for no reason at all" or "magic wand of some guy" from a scientific point of view sound equaly strange :D
:D lol
rink: .....maybe before the Bg Bang was another Big Bang...:)))
The one who did open this topic wanted actually to learn about different religions, traditions, usages, maybe we could help him and other users to understand other religions, apart from our own. But I knew that it would deviate from the topic and become a subject of contradictory discussion about 'is there any god or not?'

Religion ? Here one can discuss about defining it nights and nights, like we do now. Certain is that it is linked to our spiritual life. Now one can simply say “ok, can we prove the existence of the spirit scientifically?” And here the problems occur, like you asked – is there any relation between them, or if they contradict each other. I think a contradiction surely exists, religion affirms things that simply cannot be proved by scientific facts or methods.
You did not see thaht you try to explain Religious idea with a scientific point of view... Really strange isn't it ? Religion can not be proven with logicallt tools of science but only with Faith... just remember this... And it is an atheist who says that... If you want to use logic in your explaination, please use the whole logic ;-)

actually according to Islam, it's how Allah created the universe. The Big Bang. it's mentioned in the Quran.
“Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together in one piece, then We rent them asunder and We got every living thing out of water. Will they then not believe?”
Qur’an 21:30
the expanding of universe is also mentioned in the Quran.
“And the heaven(universe) We created with might, and indeed We are (its) expander.” (Quran 51:47)

We're getting off topic now, but that's, at the moment, unknown. Take a look here.
