i'm an atheist, because believing in something you have absolutely no prove of is not just naive, imo it's plain stupid, if someone believes in the bible they might as well pick any other random book, and worship a character from it.

and even if god did exist i wouldn't obey him, from everything i've learned in the old testament, he's nothing more than a childish, selfish, revengeful murderer, so i don't really care if he'd created me or not, he's not the type of person i'd ever want to follow

Muslim means who practises Islam and Islam means submission to God(Allah), the One and only creator. Our holly book is the noble Quran. Quran was sent down to Muhammed( peace be upon him) by Allah through Jibraeel (Angel Gabriel). (ACHTUNG! Muhammed didn't write it because he didn't know how to read and write).

We also believe in the other books sent down by Allah (Torah-Moses, Bible-Jesus), and all the messengers(prophets) of Allah. (We sent Jesus the son of Mary, confirming the Torah that had come before him: We sent him the Gospel: therein was guidance and light, and confirmation of the Torah that had come before him: a guidance and an admonition to those who fear Allah.)

But we belive they were edited and revised. Still we have respect for them because they may contain some of the original teachings of Allah.

Gabriel brought down the first Relevation when Muhammed (pbuh) was 40 years old. It took place in a Cave, Cave Hira. Gabriel came to him and ordered: Read! Muhammed said: i can't read. Gabriel embraced him and repeated: Read! Muhammed: i can't read. Gabriel squeezed him again and said: "Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). Read! and your Lord is the Most Generous.’" [Al-Qur'an 96:1-3] Then the whole relevation was completed in 22-23 years.

Islam has 5 fundamental duties. (5 pillars)
1) Shahada (the profession of faith) (saying:I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad (pbuh) is the servant and Messenger of Allah) (one becomes a Muslim taking shadada, i mean saying this you become a Muslim)
2) Fasting in the Ramadan. (holly month)
3) Praying five times a day. (ritualistic prayer that takes about 10 minutes. a reminder. a way of of building self discipline)
4) Zakat: Obligatory charity. (giving 2.5% of your stored wealth to the poor. once a year)
5) Pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia. at least once in a lifetime if yo're physically and financally able.

major sins according to my religion are; (i'm copying this)

04. Not Praying
05. Not paying Zakat
06. Not fasting on a Day of Ramadan without excuse
07. Not performing Hajj, while being able to do so
08. Disrespect to parents
09. Abandoning relatives

11. Homosexuality and sodomy
12. Interest
13. Wrongfully consuming the property of an orphan
14. Lying about Allah and His Messenger
15. Running away from the battlefield
16. A leader's deceiving his people and being unjust to them
17. Pride and arrogance
18. Bearing false witness
19. Drinking alcohol
20. Gambling
21. Slandering chaste women
22. Stealing from the spoils of war
23. Stealing
24. Highway Robbery
25. Taking false oath
26. Oppression
27. Illegal gain
28. Consuming wealth acquired unlawfully
29. Committing suicide
30. Frequent lying
31. Judging unjustly
32. Giving and Accepting bribes
33. Woman's imitating man and man's imitating woman
34. Being unfaithful in marriage (sexually promiscuous)
35. Marrying a divorced woman in order to make her lawful for the husband
36. Not protecting oneself from urine
37. Showing-off
38. Learning knowledge of the religion for the sake of this world and concealing that knowledge
39. Bertrayal of trust
40. Recounting favours
41. Denying Allah's Decree
42. Listening (to) people's private conversations
43. Carrying tales
44. Cursing
45. Breaking contracts
46. Believing in fortune-tellers and astrologers
47. A woman's bad conduct towards her husband
48. Making statues and pictures
49. Lamenting, wailing, tearing the clothing, and doing other things of this sort when an affliction befalls
50. Treating others unjustly
51. Overbearing conduct toward the wife, the servant, the weak, and animals
52. Offending one's neighbour
53. Offending and abusing Muslims
54. Offending people and having an arrogant attitude toward them
55. Trailing one's garment in pride
56. Men's wearing silk and gold
57. A slave's running away from his master
58. Slaughtering an animal which has been dedicated to anyone other than Allah
59. To knowingly ascribe one's paternity to a father other than one's own
60. Arguing and disputing violently
61. Witholding excess water
62. Giving short weight or measure
63. Feeling secure from Allah's Plan
64. Offending Allah's righteous friends
65. Not praying in congregation but praying alone without an excuse
66. Persistently missing Friday Prayers without any excuse
67. Unsurping the rights of the heir through bequests
68. Deceiving and plotting evil
69. Spying for the enemy of the Muslims
70. Cursing or insulting any of the Companions of Allah's Messenger

but the biggest and the only unforgiven sin is making partners to Allah, worshipping false gods. (shirk). it leads you to the hellfire and you stay there eternally. If you accept the Oneness of Allah but commit the other sins anyway, it's up to Allah. You may suffer the hellfire for a while and then go to the Paradise or he may tell you: Go and enter Paradise! :)

Meaning of Cihad (Jehad, Jihaad, Jiaad): it doesn't mean holy war. it means struggle. defensive struggle. fighting injustice and opression. Muhammed says inner struggle for faith is a bigger struggle than fighting. Inner struggle: The Great struggle.


one last thing. my sincere advice. don't be one of those media fooled Islam haters and don't judge Islam or any other religion by its followers. Islam is soooooo misunderstood. even by muslims. Islam is perfect. Muslims are not. If you want to investigate Islam, go to its sources. Quran and hadeeth(sayings of Muhammed).

it's a lot of problem because of nationality too.

I know it is utopian, because there can ever be total absence of religions
its only point of view when I think about it how many bad things were made in the name of various religions and I hardly remember any good ones which would have at least similar value

there were more witches burned in other places than in spain on this times, but i dont know why the spanish inquisition was more popular than other inquisitions ( in fact, the inquisition got more power on conquered america than in iberia, im talking about 1600 ac)
