talking about european medieval age, I think that christian church hindered progress the most by its dogmas, restrictions of freedom, crusaders wars etc ..
that is good example of typical abuse of religion

the bad thing is that people have bad habbit of turning great and happy things into something very bad

christianity -> crusades and inqusition
atom power -> nuclear bomb
islam -> suicide bombers and terrorist attacks


religion is a very good thing and if everyone would follow main commands of their religion world would be paradise.
imagine if all christians would follow 10 commands, and all muslims all those that 70

world would most probably be much better place to live

Following commands is man's weakest point.

it's a lot of positive and negative sides of the religions.

as i said, you are absolutely right.
but what about you speak, is only the dark side.
i hope, that some day you can understand, that you can't principle all religions, for such a bad things, what about you speak.

i find that following 10 christian commands should be a normal thing for any human. there is nothing weird or bad in any of them, so i don't really see why would following them be a bad thing

i am an atheist, but i hope that i live like the christians, and i can follow 10 christian commands.



and all of the important things in our life (freedom, solidarity, nationalism, religions) has positive and negative sides too.

negative sides:
solidarity - extrem solidarity is the communism
freedom - if you can do everythig, what you want (example ruin or kill other peoples)
nationalism - opression other nations, minorities
religions - dogmas, terrorism

but all of them has a lot of positive thing too.

Gay people are people as well, just like you and me, and, provided there's a god (as I personally believe there is none), are made by god as well. How can being gay ever be a sin if they are made by god himself?

maybe it's bad interpretation, but look, there are 2 other things.
being gay doesn't mean this person is bad. it's even not his fault that he's gay.
other thing is being gay and doing things conflicted with (for example) 10 commands - (for example) having sex.

where in the ten commands does it say you may not have sex?

at second 6th command is generally about sexuality

if you want check something about it in catechism of catholic church - pts. 2331 - 2400. especially 2357 - 2359.

aziz, i find it very hard that in life, they expect you to follow all them rules! :)

And there's no commandment about sexuality. There's only written that you can't cheat or have sex with someone else's wife/girlfriend.

Well, many say that homosexuality is against god and nature and that it is only a fruit of the human rationalism, though there are also cases when non-rational beings, like apes, become gay.
