Subject: Electric guitar

When I first started electric guitar I got a beginners kit for around 150 euro. I'd assume you can get one for about 120-130 euro in Poland though.

I've got an Acoustic guitar and if you're gonna play alone, acoustic is way better :)

These beginner kits are actually quite alright for this purpose. Since if you use the high fi for amplification, you won't be able to play with distortion. Which actually eliminates the purpose of using an electric guitar...

Maybe I'll get more funds and get one of these...is any of them good enough?

CORT G210 GM
Epiphone SG Special EB
Dean Evo XM TBK

The Epiphone and the Dean are imo fine. I would personally buy the Epiphone, because I made very good experiences with mine. Quite funny - my first guitar was also a black Epiphone SG (but a more expensive model - I worked half a summer to buy me my first guitar an amp).

I would definitely advice you against buying the CORT guitar, since it has a tremolo lever. Tremolo systems can be nice if you know how to use them and if you have a good, well adjusted one (I personally would not buy anything below Floyd Rose). Cheap tremolo systems are just a pain in the a.. since changing strings gets more complicated and your guitar constantly detunes. It also negatively affects your sound if it is bad adjusted...

Thanks for the info! Both Epiphone and Dean look decent enough, the price is high...although I can afford it so...:)

I think I've made my decision and I'll buy the Epiphone...looks good, read some fine opinions on it...price is slightly higher - 650 zloty, while I was thinking about 350 at the beginning...but oh well...no sense in buying just to buy I guess...

that's what i'm using too :)

being a fairly experienced guitarist, i would advise against going straight into electric, like most others said, and start learning on an acoustic first, since it is easier to learn strumming patterns and chord shapes (the basics) on an acoustic. besides, playing on acoustic toughens your calluses up more than playing on an electric coughpussycough :P

see if you can get a nice 15W (approx) amp as well, with distortion/overdrive and decent gain. see if you can get them to throw it in with the guitar. a bit further along the line, a footswitch might be useful (for switching between distortion and clean), so if you want you can get an amp that has a footswitch jack. otherwise you can just invest straight into a distortion/overdrive pedal, or a multieffects board.

hopefully you have a good instructor too! ;)

youtube will be my instructor, ambition and dreams my motivation...;p

And idea about this epiphone? Would it be decent? It's more thant I thought about spending, but it's ok...

oh absolutely. its a very decent guitar, and really nice and affordable for beginners. :)
2009-08-30 13:33:24
Great. It's more than I wanted to spend but...well :) 650zl is not a fortune yet, and maybe if I'll have some luck in betting games, then I will be able to buy a decent amp ;)

Some people might also think about getting a job;-)...
2009-08-30 14:54:52
Won't have time for it, seriously...last year of 1st level of studies so I'll have to write a long piece of paper...;-) also will have to pass a tough exam in French and I currently suck on it...so my week will look mainly like that: studies - French since monday to friday. Then writing + French on weekends...tough life ;-)
