2009-11-20 21:07:45
Just think about it: what has more chance in the politics and economy against China and the USA: the European countries one by one, or the EU together?
2009-11-20 21:10:11
I hope it is good for Europe
2009-11-21 11:45:23
It's a sure thing that it's good for Europe.
The EU needed a leading person to whom the rest of the world could speak to. Until now, leaders of the rest of the world never knew who to adress to; Barroso, Merkel, Blair and some other names.
I hope that things will be more centralized now.

But i don't say Van Rompuy was the best choice. :) Let's see within a few years wether it was a success or not..

I don´t like the idea of giving too much power to a single person, it´s too risky in my opinion.

Time will tell...
2009-11-22 14:05:27
Europe is going down the hill...
2009-11-22 14:08:25
president dosent have too many power in fact
2009-11-22 16:36:35
He's got less power than let's say, Berlusconi... :D
2009-11-22 18:11:44
van Rompuy seems ok for me.

I have more trouble with EU foreign minister, they hardly should chose someone worse.
2009-11-22 18:43:02
did you like Mr. Solana? ( el señor solana? xDD)
2009-11-22 18:51:57
ow jeah, what happened to him? Anybody know what the actual difference between the function of this high emissary and solana's job?

Biggest problem EU has is that nobody knows who does what.
2009-11-22 18:53:19
sure mate, i dont know neither, seems the new foreign minister is gonna hev the same job solana had, but im not sure already
2009-11-22 20:11:28
is that the british woman, the one that erm noone in britains ever heard of?
2009-11-22 20:24:41
Btw president is a wrong terminology it is better to say chairman ;)
2009-11-22 20:38:50
I'm european but I don't understand a crap about what's happening...
Have we got a new President of EU? Why? Who placed she there? What are her power? Why can't we vote for our president?
2009-11-22 22:06:27
That's called indirect voting. You vote for the members of parliament, they choose the president.

In the same in the Netherlands, members of parliament will decide who'll become minister president.
