Subject: PS2 officially hits Brazil

2009-11-28 03:51:35
Microsoft already sells "officially" in Brazil, but its prices are set (by MS) too high, just like happens with Apple's Ipods, for example.

ow, that's ridiculous but also sad...big country like Brazil just have PS2 recently...for me, I have played it about 4 years ago...but you know, the cd's game were not original(we can buy it for $0.5 each) or you can play it on rental for $0.25/hour :p

that's right what makerror said. here, in Indonesia we can play PS2 for just that price level.. and i just bought PS3 120GB last week for around USD 403 or IDR 3,800,000 (included of 2 controller sticks and 1 PES 2010 game)..

So you buy it elsewhere :p

sony doesn't make money from the console sells
they lose money for every single ps2 they sell
in fact all companies lose money on consoles
so if they can't make money with the games they won't sell the console in countries with high piracy rate
it's obvious
2009-11-29 00:45:26
what do you mean by every company loses money on console selling?

in my opinion console-gaming has risen alot in recent years and is alot more profitable for big companys than pc-gaming.
2009-11-29 00:52:05
i mean that if they sell a console for 200$ it costs 250$ to produce it (ofcourse i invented the prices)
probably after 10 years the hardware cost much less. thats why it will be launched now in brasil
(edited)

i just checked wikipedia

it's even worse :)
sony was losing 250$ for every ps3 they sold
it started to be profitable only after 3 years
2009-11-29 16:12:37
The consoles are cheaper in the stores than its production cost - the profit is in the games' sells.

imo thats just a whine from the console developers....

You can't expect profit from anything (instantly!).
2009-11-30 18:15:02
well, but i went to "chuy" city last summer and there i seen a xbox360 elite just for
600 dolars, and that city is in brazil, so if you really want the console, you can find
it for a low price if you look around. and the games you can find them for just 10
dolars, but of course, they arent the official ones, just a pirate copy. but its the same...
2009-11-30 18:59:21
Probably be cheaper to fly to America and buy it there ;)
2009-11-30 19:01:17
According to someone here you would have to pay a lot of taxes if you come back to brasil, so probably not cheaper.
2009-11-30 19:34:24
We pay 40% of our money to the State.
We have the highest car price in the world. The price of anything here is high. It's a rich country ¬¬

Live the anarchy!
2009-11-30 21:07:37
here we pay around 60% to the state if you arent married (and around 50% if you are married)
2009-11-30 21:19:32
60% really? the highest tax in Germany is 45%? thought we are pretty high already.
Can you explain me how it adds up to 60%? How much money you have to earn for that?
