Subject: First thoughts about countries

I think the Italians have more in common with each other than the Flemmings and the Walloons. And by the way, what is the added value of Belgium for Flanders?

First of all: don't doubt my geographical knowledge, it's probably better than yours. Have you ever seen the borders of USA, and the border of its states? That's America too, you know.

I can't explain it myself, it's just a 'feeling', so I certainly understand that you guys don't understand it.

Because I am from bruges, I have the right to mock ppl from antwerp. One time the capital city of one province (where I studies) declared it's own dependency from another province (because that city was notoriously flooded by students from that other province - it's all folklore) and while the festival was a lot of fun, later that evening, when enough of the locals got drunk and the muscians left and the stages were broken down, I got into trouble because my accent wasn't native from that city. Some people take this stuff too far. And you don't have to be from Europe to guess which demographic that is.

We just make sure they never get hold of any guns or bombs and we will be allright.

Borders within countries are a differnet story. You talked about borders across coutnries, AND you talked about borders "set by colonial powers", but, for your information, EVERY "straight line" border in America was set AFTER independence, by American countries themselves (like US midwest or Argentina's Patagonia). If you want to look for Berlin's congress type of borders, look at Africa ;)

I don't have anything against other the Walloons, I don't like their mentality. And I'm not in the mood to explain this, as I am in a discussion with Ruige_Rony about this topic at the moment ;-)
And for God's sake, I won't ever shot a Walloon or bombard it :p
