Subject: Premier League
haha, I remember you Dahlern showed me a webpage about Arsenal.. you know what I mean :P
and btw, who do you think is the best player in Premier League?

hmm.
for me three best players are ruud, henry and lampard.

It is not about Arsenal, but about the player. Henry is the best striker in the world like Ronaldinho is the best AM.
in my opinion the best player is Lampard.. he has set the record of the most goals scored by a midfielder (and he doesn't play AMC position, he plays the MC position as a playmaker)... He has scored 16 in the league
Lampard has indeed been impressing these last seasons.
Yeah, he's a West Ham's production, but he became a good player in Chelsea :) Chelsea has produced its own stars, not bought any (maybe the biggest stars that Chelsea has bought during Mourinho reign are Makelele, Essien and Drogba).

You can't deny that they have spent enormous amounts of money to buy players.
perhaps, but it's not forbidden if they have it. but mourinho has been smart and he hasn't bought any stars, though chelsea probably needs one (probably Ballack) to get things going in Europe. Mourinho had all the money available for him and he didn't buy any superstars, did he ? he bought players who were solid in other leagues (essien, drogba, maniche [loan], makelele), but he wanted to 100% get them so he didn't start screwing around with small sums. Imo the smartest move that Chelsea board has made is hire Mourinho - he is a great tactitian, good motivator, very determined, he thinks clearly. And what he achieved with Porto was amazing.

and the fact that other clubs know that chelsea is rich, then they demand big sums instead of smaller and medium ones, because they are smart enough to 'blackmail' or smth rich clubs.

I think those players were far more than solid though.
you can't be serious
the only one chelsea "produced" is john terry.
all other players are bought with big sums of oil dollars from russia.
Edit: even lampard cost the small amount of 16 million euro in 2001.

Look at Chelsea for few years ago. They were an average club in the Premier League..
1997: 6th place
1998: 4th place
1999: 3rd place
2000: 5th place
2001: 6th place
2002: 6th place
2003: 4th place
2004: 2nd place
After the 2003/04 season, Roman Abramovitsj sacked Claudio Ranieri and hired Josè Mourinho, who won the Champions League with Porto. It was a success, agree. But almost everybody looks on Chelsea as a negatively form of success, because of the money the Russian dude has got. He can buy everyone. I can understand them. But I think bringing Josè Mourinho to Chelsea was a wice choise of Roman, and also they have spending money on solid players!
Hey, look at Real Madrid. Since they bought David Beckham from Manchester United in 2003, they haven`t win a singe trophy for three seasons!

Lampard wasn't anybody while in West Ham. In Chelsea he has improved a lot and he is used the right way (In West Ham they didn't squeeze the max out of him). He was young and that day Chelsea didn't have so much money, so they spent it on future stars (as you see, lampard is one of the reasons that Chelsea is so successful atm).. Terry was and is at quite young age so succesfull (being named as a nominee in great competitions, being considered the best defender in the world, definately in england), Joe Cole wasn't anything big in West Ham too. But now I reckon that most big clubs wouldn't mind having him (even Real Madrid I guess).. Arjen Robben is quite good signing, though I don't like him very much, but he has time to develope.. Claude Makelele didn't perform very well in Real Madrid (probably because he wasn't the biggest 'star' there), but now he is one of the main midfielders in Chelsea, considered one of the best DMFs (not in RM he wasn't). Carvalho and Ferreira are players who were probably the best at Porto while winning so Mourinho, as a friend of theirs and seeing them good players (which they are) also brought them into the club. Drogba doesn't fit very well into england football, but again, I believe it is Mourinho and the rest of the team (again influenced by mourinho) helped him to set himself comfortable, I really can't see him leaving the club though fans were very angry at him at one point, when he didn't perfrom as expected. Also Chelsea reserves have great players, good young future stars, like Anthony Grant, Jack Cork, Michael Mancienne, Scott Sinclair, Steven Watt, Fabio Ferreira, Robert Huth (a very good, strong centre-back, chelsea's production), Lassana Diarra, Younghusbands (especially James)

Those numbers you show, I think you can find them on Man U and other clubs too. Im 2004 and 2003 Chelsea was 2nd and 4th, not far from title, and in 1999 also 3rd.
And you cannot blame the club for having a rich billionare fan

I`m not saying that, but the Russian dude is a MAJOR reason for the success, together with Josè Mourinho..
Yeah, and I'm not afraid to admit that I'm proud of Roman, he is the best thing that has happened to Chelsea after being so unlucky all the time.
Everything that other clubs can do is be jealous to chelsea for not having a billionaire fan. I was a fan of Chelsea before the Jose - Roman union and when I saw Chelsea winning the title and seeing what it means to the players, it was really good feeling and very touching.
