because of what hubis said. War is not a natural condition. The war itself exerts its control over peoples behavior so that they start to behave in unnatural ways. I thought no pacifist would readily assume that any soldier would both march and act in attrocities in a willing way.
But yes, there are those sad exceptions that view a warlike situation as a green card for their own perversities.

Still living in italy, cause it would be one of the best countries in the world without our politicians, vaticano and criminality.. unfortunately intellectual average level is going down and down, like culture... even if some centuries ago we were above any other country. By the way our cities, high mountains and wonderful sea, our variety of food and wine, ac milan and (some people's) humor and cordiality are difficult to find around the world.. i just would like to steal:

- high social/intellectual level from some northern europe countries
- easy going way of life from spain
- hollywood from US
- beautiful girls from Lietuva :)
