Who is this athlete? Skater or something?

WHAT ?? Norway is the number 1 country in speedskating in history of the Olympics and you're asking who Kramer is ... ?? What is your next question, who is Håvard Bøkko or Johann Olav Koss ?? ;)

Charles, do you really think anyone but us in the world cares about speedskating? :P... Do you Petter Northug? Or do you know Bill Demong? I don't think you do ;)

Is track speed skater a lot follow in your country?

2010-02-25 12:21:07
Yes, it's on television every weekend for several hours during winter. And once it gets cold outside we start speedskating, cos we have a lot of water and ice tracks over here. So Sven Kramer is a superstar in our country, but of course he's a nobody in the rest of the world :)
2010-02-25 12:26:46
It's strange because in france, we saw that sport only during olympic games
2010-02-25 12:26:50
Depands, I don't watch cross-country skiing so I don't know these names no. But I watch all sports Dutch are good in (or in case of the olympics, participate), so I'm surpriced people don't know there own athletes. And more surpiced a Norwegain doesn't know speedskaters but watch Olympics ... That is strange!

And yes, more people care about speedskating or else it would have been cancelled years ago :) Speedskating is becoming more populair because inline-skating isn't Olympic, icespeedskating is.

Funny thing, last year a Frenchmen (Tristan Loy) was winner of the Open Dutch National Championships on natural ice.

Yes that's true but maybe Eurosport show that sport i don't know because I haven't it... but the others channel no. And it's the same for all sports in olympic games.
Even biathlon where we are very good...
Only artistic skating is diffused... very boring ^^
2010-02-25 12:52:38
I think that national televisions only show sports your country is good at and the non-international clubgames (probably mostly soccer..). People do not want to see sports where their country sucks.
So we swiss watch tennis (federer), ski alpin (cuche, janka) and club games like ice hockey and soccer. I think that is quite normal.
2010-02-25 13:40:24
Well. Norway rocks in most of the olympic sports, so you can't blame him for not following all the competitions where Norway participates.

Btw what happened to Rintje Ritsma (spelling!)?
2010-02-25 13:47:06
Yes I think it's that too.
In france sports are rugby, soccer, tennis too, handball and swimming.
