Hungary- Austro-Hungarian Empire(hostile for us)

this isn't the first time, that you identify hungary with the austro-hungarian empire.

heh. i think that your historical mind is a little bit selective and subjective.
the hungarian people didn't want this "brothership" with the austrians. in 1848 hungary fought against austria, and you have to know, that austria won because of your "great" brother russia and because of your "minor" brother romania.

read this: "With the help of the Russian Czar (and some part with immigrant Serb and Rumanian population), Hungary was crushed, and the military leaders of the War of Independence were executed in Arad on October 6, 1849." click or click

so we couldnt arrive the freedom, because the austrian, russian, and the romanian + serbian army invaded us. thats is fact, so pls don't identify us with the empire. never forget that russia and the romanian people help for the austrians in 1848/49!

so please don't attack the hungarians because of this. stop with this sh#t. :s

and we wasn't a really enemy, just in your mind.

why did the conquering austrians change the name of their country to austro-hungarian empire? Was there some kind of political marriage to seal the deal and legitimise the annexation?
2010-02-04 14:12:54
your language is very interesting :)

austira was in hard situation after 1849.

in the prussian-italian-austrian war austria lost a lot of italian area, and the catholic austria was leaved out from the german unity.
the austrian finances was terrible, and the peoples wasn't content in austria and in hungary too. hungary didn't give up to be free, but wasn't enough strong to fight once more for freedom.

so the hungarian and the austrian politicans made a pact, called "kiegyezés" (compromise), and hungary give some freedom (parliament, goverment etc), but the leader was still the austrian king, franz joseph. the state department, the military and the finances was lead by austria and not freom hungary. for example: in the first war the hungarian didn't want to fight, but franz ferdinand did, and we couldn't do everything, because he was the military leader.

this compromise in 1867 was the birthday of the austro-hungarian empire: you can read the story of this compromise here
