Subject: Golf !!!

Hi everybody... Golf is the best sport in the world. I played many sports( football, basketball, tennis, bowling, darts, chess, hockey....), but golf is the greatest. I play golf since august 2008, im 23 yo, and today i have handicap 8. Im member of Golf Park Rajec, short 9 holes course, but this year will be constructed 18 new championschip holes :) In Slovakia is golf season short, only from april to november, this is bad :(

I played many courses in Slovakia ( Velka Lomnica, Piestany, Bernolakovo, Bac) and in Czech republik( Celadna, Ostravice, Ropice) and others :) My best score is 79 in Ostravice(par 72) and 63 in Rajec, but we have only par 62

Is here anybody who play golf? What is your golf club, handicap? Whats in your bag?

golf is very expansive.
The father of my wife (japanese) has been one of the 40 masters in the world during his professional career.
I play a bit golf, but I can play because he gave to me woods, irons, putter, bag (anything from his technical sponsor) and lessons, without his free help I suppose that I will not able to pay for have fun. Golf is a sport of the mind, concentration and a correct lecture of the field and the weather are basilar.
It's nice, but to have fun you must learn very much, otherwise there is a great risk thet you get bored yourself

not true, golf is as costly as skiing. in the world are milions of golfers. Im only student, but i can play golf. im not from rich family. 1 year membership for student in our club is 200Euro, it is not so much. for 1 year... Membership for fitness center is 35 Euro monthly...

This is a great difference from here. In italy cost from 2500 euro/year. Only to can get inside the golf's house, by this way I can play 18 holes only when I get invited from a member.
And clubs, balls, and lessons are very expansive
In japan golf is more cheap, but is very praticated...

yeah , but every club has his own price... One is cheaper, one expansiver.

Clubs, balls are not so expansive, but you muss search on internet... From UK , complete set of beginner clubs - 150 Euro... With all drivers, irons, putter, woods... And lessons are free... Check youtube :)

the only golf club I know here has a 1 year membership price 430 eur.. if you are under 21y old.. if not 930 eur a year for you.. and that is a serious dream on bitch price for me at least.. and half of the year there is a fckd up weather so it would be more like a half-a-year membership here.. I guess they don´t play golf in a snow?.. + I guess you have have to buy clubs and other stuff too.. :/

but it is rather a local problem, since your country is in such weather, the power does not wish to golf ... and therefore the prices are also about so high. And some have no such tradition. But in a global context, golf is definitely a sport could not cope financially, and suggests that it plays in many countries, entire families and is affordable. See England, USA, etc.

Ok, but I do not want to argue. Every country is different, I would have rather exchanged views with someone who plays an active, likes golf. I did not want a debate on the financial page. Because anyone can have to their own opinion and experience.

sorry for whining in your topic:P.. but I agree, I guess it is more like a local problem indeed.. In Finland it is pretty popular sport despite the shitty weather.. we just don´t have any golf culture here.. though the sport seems to be popularising..
