Subject: Do you smoke?

2010-05-10 20:04:32
I don't think thats fair. Obviously if given that decision before the ban then they would have all opted to allow smoking. Just because some people are inconsiderate doesn't mean everyone else should suffer.

If more as 80% of the people in a bar are smoking I don't agree that they should do it outside fore the other 20% .
2010-05-10 20:26:19
1) That would be a pretty large percentage to be smoking lol

2) Yes they should, otherwise the message it sends is 'my enjoyment is of more inmportance than your health', which is a pretty shameful attitude to have.

smoking is responsible for 90% of all lung cancer, 75% of chronic bronchitis and emphysema, 25% of cases of ischaemic heart disease and it's only the tip of the iceberg of all negative consequences

That wasn't my point, my point was that smoking doesn't MAKE you get these diseases, it just makes it more probable.

Don´t be a pussy, have a smoke...it is great!
2010-05-10 21:07:35
No thanks, but I urge you to smoke heavily.
2010-05-10 21:07:47
I'd rather be a pussy than a moron with cancer.

If you don't smoke you won't get hurted for the few times you are in a bar and there are people smoking ofcourse it is not good for your health but the damage that is causes is neglectable . research tell us that only the people that live in a house with smokers that can cause some real serious damage . So I believe when you are a parent and you smoke you should not do that in the house if you have children . But in a bar or cafe it doesnt matter to my opinion ( Since the negative effect is almost nihil ) And I am not saying that just beceause I think that , there are researches that I read that state this information .

There's a famous case in the UK of a TV presenter who died from lung cancer, despite having never smoked in his life. He used to be a jazz trumpeter so was spending a lot of times in nightclubs. You've also got to consider how many other people worked in these clubs, and for longer hours.
2010-05-10 21:22:05
Yes that sounds logical, but you say it yourself ; His life was pretty much about Jazz in nightclubs in that case it could really hurt you . And I have no problem with smoking areas where you can smoke in the bigger clubs that seems logical to me. But for the smaller bar's/cafe's its simple to expensive in some cases and then I think the owner should decide fro his self :)

At this stage, you'd lose far more business allowing smoking in your cafe.
2010-05-10 21:31:00
Really? Because all I've heard is complaining from pubs and clubs
2010-05-10 21:31:59
Mabye in your country but defintley not here :) I'm 100% sure of that.
2010-05-10 21:34:54
Not pubs and clubs as such, but cafe's and restaurants definately. Considering approx 20 percent of the population smoke, the other 80 percent would probably take their custom elsewhere. I know if I had the choice I'd just avoid the smoking places. Which is of couse why its so much better now with the bans.
2010-05-10 21:39:41
Ofcourse even me ( and I smoke ) can't stand the smell of a sigaret when I am eating . I think Cafe means somethingelse in your country problally bar , but we use the same word but we mean 2 different things :)

LOL at made up facts.

I still smoke in pubs.

Special pubs where they have a special room. It's against the law, so it's more fun.
