relentlessgeo naar Don Enzo
it's so sad that only an argentinian guy who had lived such mess in his country can feel sympathy for greek people. the rest of you, are acting like technocrats. :(
I know you are mad at your own government, but why are some people burning the EU flag?
the rest of you
are you a golden boy or a european minister or smth? aren't you a common european?

it was 1 stupid guy. maybe followed and supported by 10 stupid guys. i can find you an italian/german/french/etc burning a EU flag. does that mean that the whole italy dislikes EU?
Yes ;-) No, it doesn't indeed, but it is not really helping.
anyway, just to clear my technocrat-thing-post.
coming here to this topic, i was expecting some kind of humanity by all you people. some kind of support to the greeks who are protesting against these measures taken by the greek government which are only targeting the poors with extra taxes and increase in common goods prices, while the greeks who make fortune through black money or businesses with european and american banks and golden boys or steal money from greek government through unfair bonuses will make bigger fortunes.
and i came here and i read posts of how stupid is to protest, others were saying that greeks are lazy and make fortunes, have average income more than 2000 euros and such things. the other guy was talking about firing people and etc.
anyway, i am not expecting from a european politician, or technocrat to support ordinary greek people. these guys have as a goal to earn money and make fortunes through banks and other businesses. but i am expecting some kind of support from all of you, for what we are going to live from now on. that's why i mentioned Don Enzo, who had seen a similar situation in his country and knows how sad it is for the poor to become poorer and for the rich to become richer in the same country through such measures.
cheers.

You can protest ( although now is not a very good moment ), but these aren't just ordinary protests any more.

So vent your anger against the government then, they are to blame. You have my fullest sympathy for that.
Like I said, it's pretty much a given that the poor will pay for any crisis and will profit the least from economic growth. But the paycuts are necessary to get the loans, so, unfortunately you have to suck it up. Protest all you want, but don't do it against the pay cuts. Do it against those who are responsible for this situation, not against the solution.

i am really tired telling always the same thing. can't you read the pages before? our anger is against not only this government but against all governments after 1967-74 dictatorship. did anyone mention anger against EU? is that so difficult to understand? or did your media told you that greeks are angry against EU? then they are WRONG.
the I don't see any problem. Why are we having this discussion? :p
I've just read that in Romania the government cuts the pensions by 15% and the public sector's wages by 25%.
"Also, someone mentioned their big army budget is necessary to protect them from the agression of their neighbours and that is even europe's fault that we don't protect them. I assume that person is unaware greece is in NATO? "
I'm that guy!!
O'rly?? We are in NATO?? I can't believe it!!
So what?? Our neighbours are also in NATO but that doesn't stop them from constantly flying over greek airspace and getting in dogfights with our Airforce. Even Frontex airplanes (EU patrol against illegal immigration) have problem when flying in greek airspace by our neighbours (link )
And don't forger that Belgium may feel safe with Van Dame and you, great Chuck but we ain't

if turkey would actually do something bad, it would ruin their chances of getting into the eu, and that would only be the start of their problems. I'm pretty sure this is propaganda of the military who are afraid to lose their funding.
if turkey would actually do something bad, it would ruin their chances of getting into the eu,
We have only economic wars nowdays...
Turkey will not attack us...
Those are idiots words who want some people to be scared and vote them...

Hmm ... was it really the Greek government that has taken those measures? Wasn't it the EU who said in order to get some help/money Greece needs to adapt those measures?
Because that's the way I understood it ...
And if so I completely don't understand the strikes because that would mean you don't wanna accept the help.
I understand it's not easy to have to see that you're dependent on other countries, but it looks like you have no other choice and that's why I don't understand the whole strike-thing.
I cannot comment everything else, anger towards your government, towards politicians and so on, I just don't know enough about it. But reading from you guys - and also from the media - it's surely legitimate to be angry.

the greek people are god damn right that they protest heavily against their governement. I would do the same if i had to start working my ass off for 1000€, knowing that others (hwo created this crisis) still make money out of the current situation.
Don't really understand some of the other belgian guys blaming the greek people on doing that. Offcourse it doesn't make the situation easier but here in belgium people revolted a lot faster for often less important matters.
so don't only see this crisis in the view of an economic angle, try to place yourself in the body of a greek citizen.
and oh i'm an economic student as well and i know what this crisis could lead to... (buy USD!)
and if you want to be a politician yourself: click
