Subject: »PIIGS - economics problems
the greek people are god damn right that they protest heavily against their governement. I would do the same if i had to start working my ass off for 1000€, knowing that others (hwo created this crisis) still make money out of the current situation.
Don't really understand some of the other belgian guys blaming the greek people on doing that. Offcourse it doesn't make the situation easier but here in belgium people revolted a lot faster for often less important matters.
so don't only see this crisis in the view of an economic angle, try to place yourself in the body of a greek citizen.
and oh i'm an economic student as well and i know what this crisis could lead to... (buy USD!)
and if you want to be a politician yourself: click

It's not only because I'm Aergentinian, but also because I'm an economist ;)

Most of our people would be glad to work for 1000€.
And we have to borrow money to loan Greece.

And you as an economist must know that the money that EU loans Greece isnt enough.
It just has to help them keep the yearly budget below -3% of GDP. But they still will have this huge 110% debt. An actually it will be higher.
They will have to refund their loans with lower interrest. But that wont be easy because the economy of Greece would have to improve to get lower interrest rates. And thats not really possible. So the borrowed money will be probably just wasted. But lets wait.
Anyway my opinion is that greek people can demonstrate, thats ok for me, they have right to do that. But strike isnt ok at all. If they wont work then their economy will not get better. So the loan will be wasted again.

greece has lower level of living than we do, but their government employees have more than 3x higher salaries (and with all that bonuses it is even much more) then in czech .. and everytime i see them in TV they look exactly like some bunch of anarchists. Damn stupid populist politics, we wont pay for stupidity and irresponsibility of the others :/ let the greece itself get out of this shit
What BlueZero says is exactly right (the economical part). Anyways, things won't change in Greece. The country will be just as corrupt in five years time, pretty sure of it.
Government employees??
You mean the public sector or just politicians?

i support the Ue helping greece as far as its a good message to the "especuladores" wich is----> "the UE helps thgeir members, they have stability and are strongers of what i thought"
and also because spain received some money for cohesion around 1986, as far as some eastern countries are receiving right now

I guess any argentinian would feel sympathy for the greeks right now, you don't need to be an economist(or most argentinians have almost an economist degree, at some level, just for the experience of tolerating uncountable economic crisis :P). Most european here seem tobe either too naive, or unable to put themseves in some1 elses shoes, the same thing would happen in their countries if something similar would happen there. Money isn't just money, money is days of hard working, efforts made, and when your goverment and your banks want to steal from you, or leave you jobless, you feel it's time and and worst of all life, dreams, hope wasted.
When people said that the greek should be mad only with their goverment, well they shpuld be mad at them, but I'm sure those cutting measures doesn't come from their goverment, IMF and EU can surely put some preassure on a goverment, I'm sure those cutting IMF measures would hurt greek economy even more, cause they cut/lower something fundamental in capitalism that is the consumption chain(Argentina is a good example of following IMF recepies it's deadly).
And people of other countries doesn't seem to realize that, in a globalized economy of today, what hurts the greek it hurts most of the countries of the world, it's not like cutting a gangrened limb.

I have seen it with my own eyes, how it feels when you realize that all the hard and honest work might go to the toilet. Don't wish that feeling to anyone.
Don't know anything about economics, also I agree at one point that you end up having the government that you deserve. But it is awful to end up at a point where you have to decide to stay and know that at one point you might get f#cked and there is little you can do, or leave.
Hope that you do the best on this crapy moemnt
