Services are expenses. Some expenses should not be made. For instance in Belgium, you can get an eternal unemployment fee. That is ridiculous. That's not a service, it's a cost. One we should get rid of. 2 years of unemployment fees is enough.
after reading this I understand you simply don't know what you're saying.
This crisis is not a crisis of cost, but of lost of reddit!!!
Try to understand it, then rethink tho whole thing!

EU is not one economy. It's a collection of different economies. There is no European debt, only Italian, Belgian, ... debt. There are no budgets being made on European level, but on national level.
If you say I got to pay for my politicians, why don't you have to do exactly the same..?
I pay for the Belgian politicians, you pay for the Italian politicians. But I think I understand your point (our politicians were involved in making rules for whole EU). The problem with that is the lack of democracy in EU. In EU agreements, everyone is responsible for his own debt and the consequences the EU takes in his country. It is a democratic deficit, yes. But the rules that are here now should be followed until we can get EU democratic. Which is a very long way to go.

This has nothing to do with the crisis. Our expenditures are too high. With or without crisis. Unemployment fees till eternity is just ridiculous. We have about 600 (okay, not a lot, but then this is an extreme example) people who are 55+ and who haven't worked a day since they left school. And they still get money from the Belgian social security. That is ridiculous.

not true,
the problem is the crisis cut reddit income and then taxes income gone slwowered...
if you come back to the previous reddit you'll be fine (by the way Italy is nearly to balance 0, we do not have public deficit..)

Berlusconi says the deficit will be gone in 2013 ... So no, you are not close to 0. Belgium will have 2,8% deficit next year. In Italy, it's 3,9% this year, not really close to 0 is it? (according to NY Times)

- longer working: good
- privatization: good
- less public services: good
- more work flexibility: good
What's the downside here? ;-)
Ever worked 60 hours a week?
Ever had to pay more for the garbage because it is private now?
Ever been unemployed and got a check that did not nearly covers your expenses?
Ever been fired from a job you need because you have a family?
Are you an .....?
It is obvious that this is not at all good for a working class man.
Good for everyone in the long term. It'll make our economies more healthy.
I could give you about 50 graphs where you could see that total privatization, more than one job for the working-class-ppl, the power of the banks, the power of the big companies towards our governments and so on is not good.
You could argue with Caines, Pareto-Optimum etc. I've seen all the graphs and understand that they work in a PERFECT business and economic world with perfect ppl. The problem is our f...ing world is not perfect at all.
And that day you get fired, get only a few bucks from the unemployment agency and come home to your wife and children to a house you can not pay back the mortgage. That day probably even you will understand that this thinking you had was the wrong one.

Ever worked 60 hours a week?
No. And nobody will have to. Just a 38-hours week, but longer means longer in years (no pension at 60-62).
Ever had to pay more for the garbage because it is private now?
No. It is public here, but we still pay for it.
Ever been unemployed and got a check that did not nearly covers your expenses?
No. Cut the expenses to a minimum then.
Ever been fired from a job you need because you have a family?
No. I'm a student.
And that day you get fired, get only a few bucks from the unemployment agency and come home to your wife and children to a house you can not pay back the mortgage.
Well, you both lost your job?
No. And nobody will have to. Just a 38-hours week, but longer means longer in years (no pension at 60-62).

go get a job, rent a place and then come and talk about jobs, money, taxes, pensions , etc. no offence.
So people who don't have an economic degree should get an economic degree first before they talk about the crisis? ;-)
Oh my god.
You simply don't get it.
I'll put it in a simple scenario without graphs, formula whatever. I will just explain it plain and simple.
If you cut down government expenses, what you think is so a brilliant idea. The governement, the states, the towns have to privatize everything. Maybe, if you are lucky they don't privatize the security and the firefighters. Ok let's keep that shit. Still, the rest is private. Then a lot of monopols will occur, as the governement sector business is often designed for monopols, it is too difficult to explain that to you here. A Monopol means there is only one company in the market, and that means they can make the price like they want. That means you have to pay more for the services that were before from the government sector, how do you like that?
If you have a house and you cu down your expenses to a minimum you lose your house. You can not eat as healthy as you want, because healthy food is more expensiv and so on. Yeah, that is probably what you want in your future. How do you like that?

Can someone be as ignorant as that?
I am too tired to explain more to someone as ignorant as you, but good luck in your future.

To have some knowledge about things certainly helps, not sometimes, but very often.

So low educated people should not talk about the financial crisis? I study economics by the way ;-)
You just didn't start very well with the 60 hours week, so then I'm not going to try to make you understand my view.
