Well, you are comparing pears and apples. In Siberia they had communism, in Norway - not. Guatemala was conquered by a Roman nation and California by Anglosaxons, but again, these are not nations really with such a short and volatile history.

again, yo cant relazionate climate with more or less economic power, as far as the real numbers of many nations dosent suit on your theory

But this is just too obvious. Within Italy you also have richer north and poorer south. In Croatia is the same. You can find exceptions, of course, but "exceptions only confirm the rule" as we say. I wouldn't say you can relate climate to economy as economy depends on other resources but human as well, but you can definately relate lack of discipline of any kind (including financial) with it.

well just we dont agree. i can relate weather with human being but going so far relating it with finnancial lack? see i dont think in california they had unnfinnnancial being, and yes they are anglosaxons or melting pot..but thats culture or races not weather

For some reason I find it interesting that its southern countries which experience such problems, and I think its thefact that they have more sun and warm weather, it makes you lazy.

how is that racist? i know it for a fact that im lazier when is sunny and warm.... theres more incentives to work short hours and so on....

yes and when its cold i got up later because bed is warmer...so its a fact rest of humans do the same yeah

when you work you don't choose when you get up, you just do it.

why PIIGS in the title ? economics problems are not restricted to these countries.

there is such thing as work efficiency

and it's not only about working, also studying etc.
I can tell on my example that I'm very into 'ok, let's stop learning and go for a beer/play football' when it's hot outside, the sun is shining etc.

but when it's winter, like it is now :p, then I prefer to stay indoors and do what I have to do

it's the same about learning during the day and during the night, I'm at least 30% more efficient during the night

so relate please, this efficiency theory with the fact that Spain is richer than Poland, has better communications, hospitals, technology..

that theory is simply wrong, there are thousand of examples against it, when you are just saying.."when is warm i want to drink a beer" thats an opinion not an economic theory

and it cant be warm or cold, raining or snowing, but if you are working you are working, no beer at work even is warm, is simple as hell :)

Maybe because Poland was totally drained by Soviets after the WW - rings a bell?
We were devastated after the war and didn't really start to get back on our feet untill the Russians left, that was after 1989 mind you, so only about 20 years ago - with no proper economic backup etc.

We didn't even take part in the Marshall plan because the Russians didn't allow us to.

Now we're doing quite well - we have our problems, but it's fine.

you don't know what working efficiency is...if you work by hours you can check 50 papers or 100 papers, that's working efficiency, not the fact whether you're in your work or not.
