Subject: World Cup Predictions

I was going to do a poll on this but polls are boring. It's much more interesting to see who is saying what and why.

Who's it going to be then? Who'll be walking out of Johannesburg on July 11th with the Jules Rimet trophy and why? Maybe you want to review all 32 teams, argue your case for your home nation or shoot down that of your rivals. Who'll be the top scorer? Who are the dark horses to come from nowhere? Which big team will crash and burn?

I should have indeed. Though to be honest the first one is 3 pages back and the 2nd one isn't exactly busy. They're both somewhat different anyway. You can expect a lot more of these threads in the coming month I'd imagine. I'm just waiting for the "*Insert nation* to win the World Cupzorz!!!" influx

Typical, straight after I make my prediction, Ballack is ruled out for the entire tournament and Germany's chance of winning is pretty much gone.

Germany's chance is not gone on Ballack. They have lower chance because their strikers not played much in the season. I predicd Nederland will win the WC.

I'll add you down for Nederland and it's up to you if you want to fill out the chart.

The problem with Ballack being injured is that Germany don't appear to have an adequate replacement. They've got a pretty good starting 11 but they don't have strength in depth and he really is the key player in that team.
As much as I don't rate them, I suspect it'll be Italy again.

oh c´mon, Bayern munich will win the CL and then they will take a ride to SF and Bayern Munich will win there aswell. only Olic, Ribbery and a couple more guys won´t play there.

i think spain will do this - they have a fantastic squad filled with top class players in almost every position

i even fancy villa to get the top goalscorer award also

If all their key players weren't carrying injuries I'd agree with you. I've watched them a couple of times when Iniesta was missing, the game against the USA last year being a good example, and they weren't the same team. Consider that Xavi, Torres and Fabregas are also all carrying injuries and have been regularly injured for the last 6 months and Spain don't look as strong. I think they've still got a tendancy to choke as well.

Any thoughts on a top scorer? Messi might be a good bet given how easy Argentina's group is, same goes for Rooney, if Italy had a prolific striker they'd be in with a chance. He's not a striker but there is a guy I saw last year who impressed me a lot and that's Nilmar from Brazil, the guy is phenomenally quick.

Argentina's group isn't easy, it's one of the hardest.

i think Netherlands will win

Luis Suarez,Diego Forlan,Rooney and Villa are in "easy" groups so i think one of this players will be the top scorer. I really dont see Argentina having an easy WC they had to suffer a lot to go trough the qualifications specially because their defence isnt good and we all know that Messi is not the same in the NT

Nigeria, Korea and Greece? Which of those 3 are realistically going to challenge Argentina? It's the easiest behind Italy's

both of them strong teams. Greece with a very good defence, Korea with yery good team work and Nigeria with very fast players.
