Luckily there's a guy in the team named Javier Pastore that plays much alike Riquelme, I hope at some point he gets in for Veron. About Maradona, I think he can achieve a lot, cause everybody idolizes and love him, so, he have built up a very united team in which very1 of his players would give everything for Maradona, so that's a big plus, apart from that he has in argentinina bunker a very ease and relax enviroment, where apparently everybody gets along with everybody, and that helps to achive the previous statement in which everybody pulls to the same side adn would kill for Diego.

Then the reason he was given the job is in part what sx said, he is Maradona, the best football player of history, he is a legend, it's very hard to opose to him as candidate for the job, plus his name is news, therefore money, and you know Grondona(the president of AFA) is also vice-president of FIFA. But apart from that Grondona it's kind of a mobster, that keeps controlled of argentinian football since many many years, and he doens't want(for personal reasons) the best argentinian coach, the 1 all of us have been asking since, at least 1998, that is Carlos Bianchi, so Maradona was kind of the last resource he had to do not have to nominate Carlos Bianchi.

I can't believe he's taking Veron, I thought that guy retired. Riquelme would have been a much better choice but Maradona had to go an piss him off.

veron is still a very good player, lots of brain and spirit! riquelme has no blood in his veins, magic player though!
maradona took a 30 year old player called garce with no skills at all just to show off, maybe a younger unknown could do better than him!

Well Maradona was certainly good but i disagree strongly he was the best football player in history. Pele takes that accolade for me, plus he never needed to cheat and certainly is a lot more likeable.
Despite him as trainer I still think you have a good chance of winning it. In fact this should make you happy I've tipped them to beat Brazil 3-2 in the final.

Zidane is better than Pele or maradonna were. imo of course. :)
