Subject: World Cup Predictions

2010-07-04 15:08:46
indeed, and no south americans in sight!

i remember when france and england and italy were knocked, pele or somebody said ''european teams are really bad' muahaha!
2010-07-04 15:11:42
they were. I think in quarterfinals there were so few european teams like hasn't been seen in world cup history or something (3 teams out of 8). But then they all managed to win their games. So it is back to usual (boring) european dominance ;)
2010-07-04 15:18:30
Mwah, dominance... Out of 18 world cups played so far, 9 were European winners, and 9 South American.

Only problem with most european teams is that in their home leagues, they tend to rely on foreign strikers and wingers somehow. (england hasn't had a decent striker for years, Spain has Villa and Torres but there's no-one behind, Germany has Klose who performs in their team, but can't be called a great striker, France: come on... Anelka :$... And even the Dutch have a hard time at the moment, in the post-Van-the-Man era... Owh, and Italy.. in trouble as well.

but now this should ease off, new sanctions in the premier league mean that every team must have a squad of 25 players, and at least 8 have to have english nationality :)
2010-07-04 15:32:18
Do you know the 6+5 rule? How does english people think about something like that? I know 'Europe' does not like such a rule, but i think it will bring back more homebased football. No more teams with 11 buyed foreingers... but people of own youth. (I love Barca for that :D )
2010-07-04 15:37:19
yes, the system for youngsters in spain is amazing, from such an early age they take such an interest in sport, i have read about it.

you can see in brazil and argentina kids playing football in the street , but in england kids arnt alloud to play football in the street, the ball is taken off them haha.

No public fields or parks where they can play? Here we have a lot of those places where they can play. On normal streets it is often also allowed (if there is not much trafic and they do not shoot against buildings so people get annoyed :D )

here the same since i was a kid and our Nt was poorer xD

but yeah there are some professionals ys which works very good, such as la masia ( barça), or mareo ( sporting gijon)
2010-07-04 15:43:30
there was a lot of parks, but with the rising population all the parks and fields have been replaced with housing estates etc, it is a right mess :)
2010-07-04 15:46:54
It is realy bad when the goverment forget that all children should play outside, it is not good for their health when they can not do that. So it is bad for the future of the nation I believe. Not only for the footballfuture. :(
2010-07-04 16:06:43
@gatoman: Uruguay played very well so far and i really like Suarez, but we need to crush those orange guys in the final! ;)

you can crush netherlands in the third place playoff too :P
2010-07-04 16:09:08
]but now this should ease off, new sanctions in the premier league mean that every team must have a squad of 25 players, and at least 8 have to have english nationality :)

UK or english nationality? and if that's the case, liverpool, arsenal and chelsea are screwed :P
2010-07-04 16:11:01
Is there anyone who is interested in the result of that game?

If we lose thuesday, we are out, as simple as that. I do not care about third or fourth place.
2010-07-04 16:41:08
you are right sx, thats why everyone is in a big rush to buy steven taylor off newcastle and man city want milner, liverpool have a few good players from this country, i went to school with one :)
2010-07-04 17:13:23
