But how many matches did Eduardo played??? The more matches you play the more changes to screw things up.
Anyway I believe that we have 2 key players this time... both DIego's.
Diego Perez and Diego Forlan.

BTW.. another good thing that I believe was perfectly done was Tabarez decision of not playing friendlies (only one against Israel just before the travel to SA).
He prioritized to have the players fully rested... anyway they were playing together the last 4 years.
He believed that the memory will be ok.
And that days for resting were very important. If you see tha matches against Holland and Germany some of the players were exhausted... this could have happened befor en the WC if we have played friendlies.

It's not logic. Germany played friendlies and wasn't tired yesterday and some German players played much more games this season than most Uruguayan players. There was enough time to recover.

You dont know how much uruguayan players played this season.

"Palito" Pereyra played ALL the games Porto had this season (including league and Champions) and that is an obvious answer to his low performance in the World Cup. Forlan played a very hard season (began the season being questioned for the low performance of the Atletico, and ended as Champion of the UEFA and in the Final of Copa del Rey... toooooo many matches). Same goes for Suarez, who played League, Dutch Cup and UEFA... and was the World Top Scorer in the season. I could keep pointing players with toooo much games in the season but I wouldnt add any news: its obvious that by the 7th game of the World Cup, players are VERY TIRED, and the only thing that could make them give one last effort is their thirst of glory.

I know how many matches the guys who play in Europe had. Your post does not change the fact, that German players had at least same number of matches or even more and were not tired. Schweinsteiger, Lahm, Müller, Badstuber, Gomez and Klose had the whole Bundesliga-Season, and stood in the finals of the Championsleague and German Cup. So what? It's nonsense to say, we do play no friendlies to recover!

First: all uruguayans except Arevalo play outside Uruguay, not here. So dont think that Uruguayan league counts in any sense.

Second: we were discussing r1card0's reference to Tabarez preparation for the World Cup, that only included 1 friendly game, and r1card0 said he agreed with this because it was the best option in order to recover players from a long season. You said this was non sense because Germany played many friendlies and also reached the semifinals... ¿what has this to do with what r1card0 said? Perhaps German players have greater physical skills... ¿so what? ¿Why do you say that what Tabarez did is "non sense"? You are not focusing in the point of discussion and just want to drive it to a comparisson with german players. If they played as much games as our players, good fo them: they must be better than ours.
