By Clive Bernath: World title contender Albert Sosnowski believes Vitali Klitschko will regret giving him the opportunity to fight for his WBC heavyweight title. The 31 year-old Polish fighter challenges arguably the world’s No.1 heavyweight at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany on Saturday (May 29), and understandably feels he will be the one celebrating victory.
Speaking at the pre fight press conference in Gelsenkirchen on Monday the former undefeated European heavyweight champion said: “I realize that all the experts consider me a longshot, but Klitschko will regret having given me this opportunity.
“He’s already passed his prime. Many of his fights have been against living punching bags who had already lost in the locker room. You only have an opportunity like this once in a lifetime and I want to use it. I’ll show Vitali and become the first Polish heavyweight champion!”
At the age of 38 Vitali Klitschko may well be past his prime but the 6ft 7inch, 250lbs boxer from Ukraine will still start a red hot favourite to retain his title and it is difficult to envisage, barring injury, just how the British based Pole will emerge victorious.
Since the sixth round cut eye injury loss to Lennox Lewis in June 2003, Klitschko, 39-2-(37), has won all seven of his fights, six inside the distance. Agreed the standard of the heavyweight division since Lewis, Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield disappeared from the scene has greatly diminished but Klitschko can only beat the opposition available and he has done so fairly routinely.
As for Sosnowski, he has racked up what is on paper a pretty impressive record of 45 wins 2 defeats, 1 draw and 27 ko’s, mainly against mediocre European opposition, nowhere the quality and experience of Vitali’s opposition. Apart from being knocked out by Canadian Arthur Cook early in his career the only other defeat on his record came via a shutout eight round points loss to the capable American Zuri Lawrence in June 2008. However, the Lawrence defeat was two years ago since and then Sosnowski has impressively stopped Danny Williams inside eight rounds, earned a draw with the undefeated German promoted Francisco Pianeta in Germany and claimed the European heavyweight crown against Paolo Vidoz, so his confidence will be understandably high.
In heavyweight boxing anything can happen so a Sosnowski victory cannot be ruled out. The form book makes Klitschko a firm favourite but if Sosnowski was emerge victorious Saturday night it would rank alongside one of the biggest upsets in heavyweight history since Buster Douglas crushed Mike Tyson in 1990 and Leon Spinks’ split decision victory over Muhammad Ali in February 1978.

However I' m also scared of such scenario: Vitalij is getting older and he cares more about himself now, so he would be beating Albert' s ass off for 12 rounds without knocking him down and after that fight Sosnowski wouldn' t look like a human being.
Vitalij and Vladimir are my favourite boxers and I have no doubts that Sosnowski will just embarass himself

heh maybe Vitalij will suck after 4 years because he' s getting very old but even Evander Holyfield could beat Sosnowski undoubtebly

Well, Albert has some chances if he'll try to be dominant in first, second and maybe - if he has enough strenght - third round. Afterwards there's no chance for "Dragon" - Klitschko will KO him in 4/5/6 round.
BTW the only guy who suck's ball's in HW now is David "Chicken" Haye, not Klitschko's...
