Ah, the petty 'gay' argument.
The refuge of schoolboys.
The refuge of schoolboys.
nice how YOU predict what a sort of person someone else is (and how YOU can understand what the dutch as a people are)..
But as soon as I do the same...
Anyway, I would get insulted as well when someone who claims to be intelligent keeps sending propaganda my way as answers to serious questions. I would. But I see answers in the form of propaganda as valid answers as well. It just gives me a better view of what israeli's really think/believe on these issues. But I would get insulted if you start demanding I take those seriously.

In war, no-one is perfect.
so, whatever you do in war, is acceptable?
I would give you the name of that logical fallacy, but I don't want to be patronizing.

No. I do not condone it.
I'm not condoning the Holocuast, or anything you try and misrepresent.
Oh yeah.
On my earlier loon with a pipe argument.
A soldier has on average a third of a second to make the decision.
Ill prepared? Yes?
Stupid? Yes?
But not the media fuelled view of absolute murder.

And weren't the jews being prosecuted 60 years ago?
Or am I missing something?

I don't think many of the more thoughtful of us will disagree with this. But it has come far if 9 civilian deaths on a humanitarian convoy are going to be thought of as 'reasonable'. And maybe this is the core issue: it reminds us to how far (or how low) israel has sunk and that we have done nothing to stop them. We look like incompasionate idiots.
I will mantain that they did not come on with the intent to kill 9 civilians.
It was ill-prepared, I won't deny that.

well, let's hope not.
Just like the heli-pilot won't have had the intention of blowing up the schoolbus when he shot his rocket into the crowd, but only wanted to kill the suspected terrorist. With military force, things don't always work like it did in the child's mind, but the responsible adult knows that there is something like criminal negligence in planning. That it wasn't the plan, doens't free the IDF of any blame..

But that they only came to spread their propaganda, and got angry at serious questioning, actually preferred to make stupid jokes around the jewstereotype, and actually ran away from it, demonstrates their mind set a bit. I don't want anybody to turn into a joke, but if they do it themself..
The deaths of 9 people, be them even active Hamas terorists is regretful, let alone if true innocents were killed. However, I think the phrase 'ill prepared' might be wrong. I think that they were actually very well prepared and that any other method or military force would have created more casualties.
I think our forces have a bit of experience and it might be the case that 9 deaths is actually far less than anything anyone else could have achieved. Regretful, yes. I'll prepared - maybe.

Regretful seems the best word, but I didn't like how they sent one guy in by himself.
Maybe tear gas first? I'm no military expert, my credential is the COD series :P

strange that no one remembered the Munich incident...
I think it is a bit sad how any discussion about israel tends to become a discussion where one side will generalise and add religion into the pot. It is not ISRAEL that did make that incident. It were some army responsables who clearly must have been confused (you never drop your men one by one into a group of 20-40 possibly hostile people). That Israel troops does want to search the boat is understandable, because it would have been possible for it to be weapons as well. Let's just face this as what it is: this men in charge made a mistake by misjudging the situation and killing people. It is not more and not less.
Of course the situation that also "swings" with it is a problem.
Rog wrote this on page 14:
"...and btw, I'm not making excuses. The life of one Israeli soldier is worth the lives of 50000 of our enemies... it's about the equal ratio of population!"
I think that is one of the main problems. Both sides are kneedeep in blood. But things like this idea, that the "enemy" has far more people and casualties do not care, because you yourself feel like the underdog and this gives you the impression that you are allowed to do a lot of things. And in this conflict both sides feel like they are the underdog and think they have nothing to lose.
I just hope some day both sides wake up and realise that this is no future for their children.
