what would be needed for things to have happened?

So you think there is a possibility the Israëli army did this in self-defense?

For what it's worth, if you really believe those people on the boats were going to attack Israël or any of it's civilians you must be really naïve. Especcialy since they were attacking with 'a few guns and some knives'.
I don't know about you, but that doesn't really seem like showing any intention of attacking.

For the moment i don't judge =p

All it takes is one guy who aims at a soldier whom then gets nervous and shoots and before you know you have a gunfight.

Self-defence in international waters? Maybe in their own waters. This is with no doubt at least piracy and probably the committee will judge is more than that. My guess'd be violation of the geneve convention.
And dos compare it to Cancellara. It looks suspicious, every odd is against him but maybe - just maybe - we are all wrong.

I will boycot goods from Hamas etc to :D ? Or is Israel the only fault here ? Where 2 countries/people/whatever are fighting 2 are wrong and not only one :)
2010-06-01 18:58:01
Not always true, but indeed in this case both countries are wrong. However, that doesn't say anything about this incident.

incident is imo the wrong term..
Outside territorial waters seems a raid to me
2010-06-01 19:00:44
No I understand that but this in incident as many , and we will continue to see incidents as these if they don't make peace with eachother.

do not, even for a moment, let yourself believe that it is a possibility to get a 9-0 deathratio of army vs civilians through self defence. It will only lead to making you doubt everything you believe in and the diminishment of your norms and values. And soon you'll think it is perfectly acceptable.

Read something about 'Hamas terrorists' here...
well, 3 Belgian people on those boats got injured by Israeli soldiers. For as far as i know, Belgium had got nothing to dowith Hamas, has it?
And terrorists... just a word very easily used, even when it's not justified to do so.

I did not say it was self-defence it said that it was maybe a serie of unfortunate events which lead to the death of 9 civilians.
Tell me why that scenario could not have happened. It's possible that one soldier gets anxious and ignores his 'don't fire' order.
2010-06-01 19:15:19
Could indeed have happened. Problem his that whoever is really responsible for this, he'll never ever get punished.
2010-06-01 19:15:20
yeah, ok, that is a possibility. And even then. That doens't say 'self defence', but war crime or something slightly lighter that shows what kind of mindset lives inside the IDF.

Actually, I think something like that went off.
