That is what this thread is for.

The current discussion is told by Page One.

Atm, it's a free-for-all.

Now, who wants to talk about the death penalty?
I do. I'm against death penalty.
1) You can't make it undone when afterwards you see you killed the wrong guy
2) It would be too easy for some criminals, they wouldn't suffer enough for their deeds.

I want to talk of all the problems that the europeans have created in Africa and in America.
The explotation and slavery of the aboriginal people, and if you are willing to ask your government to pay for all the bad things your government did there.
Say you pay a couple % more of taxes and that money goes to the aboriginal people in America, who are living in the most absolute porverty.

Word are cheap but I would like to see if you are willing to put money of your pocket to repair the damages that your people caused (and that help you to improve your standard of living for generations)
2010-06-02 21:08:20
I'm against aswell, though there is a remark.
Criminals are sent to jail in most cases, but there are lot of those criminals who are set free way too soon as they were behaving very well, ... I can imagine that the family of let's say a raped girl doesn't want to see their girl's raper set free after some months. Punishments are severe enough at first glance, but once they are punished, they start minimize their penalty. There is an absolute need for consistency and I think that's why some people want to do it the harder way, a way in which there is no turning back, no minimizing.

Quote From Jeremy Clarkson: And Another Thing

I was in a village that had received aid, and I asked a villager
'How much of that money have you seen'
'Nothing' he said, but points to the soldiers 'but they all have new guns'.

We don't see the money doing anything, that's the problem
2010-06-02 21:09:44
You used to have a solution in your continent, it was call concentration camps and gulags.
2010-06-02 21:10:22
Agreed.

I'm against it.

Even though there are some cases:
i.e. A primary school teacher went on the rampage in the school with a pistol, shooting many children.

Guys like these. Evidence is definite. He's a complete *******.
He should be killed.
2010-06-02 21:11:54
I understand but in cases like that it's very hard to create a line.
A line which says: 'don't cross it or you'll get the death penalty'.
2010-06-02 21:12:15
Ever heard of responsibility? We are not responsible!
Why the hell should i pay for someone who lived 500years ago, it was the commen thought that time.
Can i do something about the opinion that blacks were only halfhumans? No i can't
Do i share the same opinion? No i don't

Dgee, do you have any idea of how many times belgium was conquered, oppressed, squeezed out for taxes? Do you know that belgium is only a free state since 180 years? We don't wine about the austrians, french, spaniards, romans or dutchmen who passed through our lands plundering and ravaging everything, why should you?

I'm not convinced that europe should pay for the problems they made. Belgium left congo as a properly organised state look congo now, it's unfair to blame belgium for that.
2010-06-02 21:12:33
Or you comparing death penalty to concentration camps? Are you serious?
2010-06-02 21:14:34
I am in favor of more severe punishments too. At least punishments that you actually get. Now, you can be free after serving just one third of your time ... It should be 100%. And you should not reward good behavior, you should punish bad behavior, by making their time yet to serve longer.

@ lp: no, they should not kill him. He should be imprisoned for life, without any chance of getting free ever. And without luxury. Just a bed, a chair, a table and a toilet, they don't need anything else.
2010-06-02 21:14:38
What money?
Are you sending money directly to the chief of the aboriginal people in South America? I don't think that's true, you are sending the money to other places, but I am almost sure nothing goes to South America aboriginal people.

We in Canada are paying to the aboriginal people because of the damaged you caused but the money goes to them and they receive the money.
I hope the British goverment stops promizing the same land to 2 people.
2010-06-02 21:16:10
Agreed.
But look at our prisons:

Ian Huntley - killed two children and an utter prat.
He SUED the prison because he didn't get his Cadbury's Chocolate Buttons.
We aren't going to reform, and then all the human rights campaigners start a campaign for internet access, days off for good behaviour and voila!

We have what we get today. Utter tripe, I tell you.
