if you said cav doesnt need a team you should learn to read and then take a course in being polite and not sounding like an arrogant twazzock.
Well you rarely see one cyclist alone (apart from time trials :P), so you can't really say, if one cyclist alone would also win against others that have a team. I personally think, that it is quite important that a sprinter is able to be behind his teammate for a while, because then he does not need to search for any shelter from the wind and does not need to use a lot of energy. Energy he will need on the last meters.
True, it's impossible to win if you don't have a team which is supporting you ;-)
It's not only about the few cilometers at the end but about the whole race day. If the captain - or sprinter - doesn't get the support there he won't be able to be on top at the end.

true, but i merely asked the question does he need one half in jest after he absolutely demolished the rest of the field. But apparently that makes the whole of England mentally retarded :\
Quickstep innergetic hadn't get a captain this year and look
Sylvain chavanel - 2 victories - 2 days yellow
Pineau 1 week king of the mountains
De weert 18 in GC for his first Tour de France after years of bad luck (in the first week he had to wait for Sylvain chavanel wo had yellow and lost a lot of time ;)
and they where almost everyday with the escapies :)
A team supports everybody not only the captain ;) that's what i think ;)

They know nothing about cycling. :) Without a team, it's really hard to save your energies till the finish and take a good position.
I didn't say a team needs a captain, I said a captain needs a team.
I don't know. I think if you can put yourself behind another sprinter he can bring you into a good position too.
Like the Swiss guy said before: it's not only about the last kilometre, you have to look at the 200 kilometres before that too.
but they're in a 200 man peloton? Surely they are capable of finding someone to ride with
Mc Ewenen won almost all his races like that... he didn't have a train...
But maybe those guys actually didn't have a team ;-)
Yust look at the Giro D'Italia, Cadel Evans lost it, because he had a very weak team, while Basso has the best team in that race.
