Subject: »WC Final: Spain vs Holland

Yesterday Webb was of our level, he made quite some errors. Spain was of another level. ;)

I think you can't read: I'm not even going to discuss these things with Spanish right now, that's what I do.

I just comment on those who act as bad winners. Luckely to the forum Spain didn't loose, don't want to know the reaction of those people if that had happened ... :S

Webb was awful. Next time I hope FIFA will make things better a choose a referee with the same level of the teams in the pitch.

I hope, because what he did yesterday was a tragic Webb;)

I read a theory of a fysiotherapist today, who wrote that the Dutch were too slow and too late on the pitch because they stayed on altitude (Johannesburg) for a too long period. (and because of the fast play of the Spanish, of course). A good tackle becomes a dirty foul if you are a second too late. I choose to believe that our players, who I follow every year and trust me, they do not play dirty every game, did intend to play the ball on a lot of occasions, but just arrived too late for the tackle.

I also think that in this, and maybe also the previous tournament, the replays of tackles are better and are shown more clearly, making thinks look a lot worse than they actually are. I've seen this not only in the finals, but also in previous games. Spain, being the team with the fast combinations and with a lot of posession, gets the most fouls against them.

Now we have to do some mourning because of our loss, the third world cup final that we didn't win.

I am not a big fan of referees usually, and am not a great fan of Webb.....however I have never seen a referee put under so much pressure by a team in a game like the World Cup Final. Holland went out with the mission of kicking their way to the victory. I am not an Arsenal fan but it happens to Arsenal a lot in the English Prem.

Holland were lucky to not be down to 10 players before half time, the stamp by Van Bommel on Iniesta before he retaliated was nothing short of thuggery off the ball which he hoped would not be seen...and wasn't.

Spain tried to win the match fairly and Holland tried to bring the game into a war. I understand that Dutch fans are unhappy but you really should not complain about the referee.

Iniesta on the first pass was level...which was seen here, the 2nd pass he was clearly onside. As for the missed fould on Elias...well there were so many fouls one was bound to be missed. To say it was against you the ref decisions is wrong as De Jong, Van Bommel both made terrible fouls that had they been seen at either a different angle or seen you would have been down to 10 men far earlier.

The fact is that you were outplayed, the same as most teams are against Spain...they simply are a fantastic passing side with brilliant technique.

You should be proud that your side reached the final, but not how you played the final.

One final thought....had Robben scored the best chance of the 90 minutes would you still be moaning about the ref after winning 1-0?

For what its worth I was truly not following one particular side, I was happy a new team would be on the cup......after a short while though I was supporting Spain due to Hollands approach.....sorry.

We where so close to winning something after 22 years :(
That's the major disappointment. Spain already won the EC 2 years ago, they didn't have to win this one also ;))

I totally agree what yoy have said. The same reason I supported Spain aswell. I have actually always liked Holland, since 1998 they have been one of the teams I have supported. But for some reason I didn`t feel any sympathy yesterday and hoped Spain winning it, Holland was playing dirty and arguing all the time. I was glad when Heitinga was sent off. It was about the time. I think Webb did a good job.

Anyway I am glad this football World cup with cheating, lying is finally over.

I read some posts earlier that both Holland/Spain sides call eachother cheaters and divers, but that`s the football on these days. All footballers are cheaters, they try to dive on any occasion. Few days ago I watched a vid about some American football (NFL) player. He said when he feels someone is touching or holding him, then all he thinks is about not falling and staying on his feet. The footballers we know think about diving and falling down. Yesterday I was quite surprised, when Robber didn`t fall, when Puyol tried to hold him with his hand. It was the moment, when Puyol and Robben both were running on the ball, Robben past Puyol and he tried to stop the Dutch with his hand.

Footballers cheat all the time and this makes refs job so much more difficult. We can see cheating after every minute. For example two players are fighting over ball, then ball bounces over side line and goes out. Automatically both players rise their hands to show that ot should be their ball and went out from opponent player. Football is being very far from fair play. There is no fair play on these days. Cheating pays off and that´s a fact!

Congratulations friends, the difference was the touch of the ball, patience, the beautiful football that you and only you have shown not only to Spain as also for the world, I believe it does not end here, because if the selections do not change peak the form of the midfield, because in my view was the sector where you have won the Cup, midfielders need not only be markers or only good to pass has to be both the Fabregas and Iniesta who showed that, for more than Cesc has not played much for the little he was given yesterday to see how much he stood out on the pitch.
Congratulations!...

Well done Spain!!
Is funny how some people is complaining about the goal, saying is was an offisde. None of these say that on their 2nd goal of the semifinal.
If a Spanish was fouled, is a diver. If an orange was fouled... that was nasty tackle. I see no sense...
