Subject: Roma people

I read in the newspaper that France is deporting the Roma.

Can anyone explain why? I mean, if they are illegal they may be deported, but I though that because Romania is member of the EU they can be in France.
Also, why the Roma people and no others (there are more illegals in France for sure).

Sarkozy called a government meeting Wednesday after Gypsies clashed with police this month following the shooting death of a youth fleeing officers in the Loire Valley.

Sarkozy said those responsible for the clashes would be “severely punished” and ordered the government to expel all illegal Roma immigrants, almost all of whom have come from eastern Europe.

He pushed for a change in France's immigration law to make such expulsion easier “for reasons of public order.” He said illegal Gypsy camps “will be systematically evacuated,” calling them sources of trafficking, exploitation of children and prostitution.



They wanted to expel them long time ago already, now they just got their excuse.

Because they don`t like gypsys, who are known criminals and cons. Yes there are also good and normal gypsys, but many of them don`t respect other people and have weird habits.

But that is an excuse. Following that France should have deported all the Muslims after the riots, USA as well after the September 11 and Spain as well after the March 11.
You can not make pay everyone in a group for the mistake of a few (or at least if you do you must be consistent).

France are sending away people who live in school halls and other social centers, they don`t do any work, they just wait government help despite they are not native French people.

Can anyone explain why?

EU was ugly on my country, that we are not helping Roma/gypsy people enough... but they dont understant it... french people now understand too :-D

this problem is about gypsy in Franch, I not read it so carefully to know why he called them Roma,
