I just wanted to say that also Christians are not tolerating other religions. Of course, official they are saying that they are able to accept another religions (and this is very good, according to islam statements) but in "not formal life", not official information also Christians are not able accept people from another religion. They are looking on the others like on people in "another caste" which means that they are not equal... I am living in religious society, so I know that this is secret true :-)

without a doubt, i expect most people think like that to an extent, religious or not. The difference is that islam has a vast amount more of fundamentalists and extremists who wish to cause a great deal of pain and even death to those that believe in something else. I know many people from a lot of religions and all are fine people but as soon as you start talking about religion, muslims by far are the ones that are more likely to get extremely agitated and aggressive. Most of them will denounce the extremists fully but some whilst not condoning what they do, also refuse to condemn, which i find very worrying.

yes, but you are talking about islam in "middle east" region, islam religion in france, I think is much lighter, or peaceful... or not ?

We all know it's true. There's little that annoys me more than the assumption of superiority based on... well... nothing, nothing at all. It's the nature of organised religion to look down on, judge or recruit everyone outside it. Personally, screw it all, why would I give up my autonomy for something so willing to dismiss me.

How many people form Islam do you know ? How many looked agitated ? How many people from other reilgion do you know ? How many looked agitated ?

I know also some muslim people : nurse of my children, about 10 differents friends, about 15 neighbours and no one were agressvie or looked agitated when we talked about their religion.
On the contrary, my stepsister is protestant, the father of my stepsister is catholic, my grand-parents are catholics tooand all are very agitated and agressive when we talk about their reiligion...

May i conclude that catholic people and protestant people looked very agressive and agitated ?... ot sure, isn't it ? ;-)

didnt french cities have quite a lot of riots in the not too distant past, with muslim youths largely being the culprits? And aren't french prison largely full of muslims? About 60-70% despite making up only 12% of the population.

I'm not saying all muslims are evil or violent, that would be stupid, but islam in its purest form is and there are a lot of muslims that see it that way, that stay in islamified areas of cities and believe that sharia and islam should be enforced all over the world. Like i said before, the bad ones may be a minority, but they are a big minority and the majority fail to denounce them which gives the impression to some that all islam is the same and all muslims are bad, which is wrong.

At first, give a proof of that please ?

Following, give a proof that the riots are due to islam ? And please give me a proof that muslims who are in jail are there because of religion problem ?

I'm not saying all muslims are evil or violent, that would be stupid, but islam in its purest form

What do you call purest form please ? Did you read the Coran book please ?

the bad ones may be a minority, but they are a big minority and the majority fail to denounce them which gives the impression to some that all islam is the same and all muslims are bad

Your words are non very consistant, you may give a proof of that, please otherwise i consider it as defamation.

I wouldn't take too much notice, you're talking to a guy who supports the EDF. They're like a smaller version of the BNP (the equivalent of Front National for you)
2011-05-27 16:43:52
its hard to prove something that doesnt happen...

http://www.google.com/#sclient=psy&hl=en&biw=1366&bih=522&source=hp&q=muslims+in+french+prisons&aq=f&aqi=g-v1&aql=f&oq=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=3a9ced9ae85aee08 choose any of them for the prisons.

I dont know that they are in jail or riotted because of their religion, i wasnt there, i just know they were muslims. Its the same in England, with larger proportions of jail population muslims than the proportion of non-jailed population, although not on such a large scale that France has.

Havent read it fully, but i've seen some of the stuff in it and the extremists always quote the koran to justify their hatred and extremist views. You get some saying its all about interpretation, you have to remember the koran was written at a time of war blah blah blah, but that just further proves the point, that 109 of the 164 koranic verses have been named 'war verses' by scholars. Its a book documenting a 'holy struggle', that many of the extremists/terrorists/fundamentalists still think is going on today.

what a load of crap that is. BNP my arse and national front my arse.

I'm against islamic extremism. End of.

I dont know that they are in jail or riotted because of their religion, i wasnt there, i just know they were muslims.
So you make an amalgam... Why do you want to look at religion choice of the prisoners ? Or riots's people ? There is no link between islam and riot or the fact that some people are in jail. It's just defamation as i said.

Then i asked you if you've read the Koran. You did not anwer to me. Please gimme your answer.

You do seem to equal islam with islamic extremism, though. If you do not believe that, I'd strongly advise you to allow for a bit more nuance in your posts. Your post on how more islamic people are in jail is a prime example of said behaviour.
2011-05-27 16:57:35
Everybody has their own opinion about islam but I don't believe this is the right place to discuss about it... see what happens.

I just wanted to say that also Christians are not tolerating other religions
define 'tolerate' -

second, there is a societal aspect to how tolerant a region is regard religion

to all, there are radical Christians as well as radical Islamist. Here in the United States the radical "Christians" think it is OK to assassinate abortion providers. Some radical 'Christians' protest at funerals of US soldiers saying 'God killed them because the military allows gays to serve'
Radical Religious extremism, ANY religion ANY extremist, should be denounced. Period.
(it occured to me that this post did not state what I meant. In my opinion ANYONE should be able to worship how they want, assuming they do not break any laws. What should be denounced is when radicals, religious or otherwise, threaten, harm or injure others).
