Yeah well brussels is supposed to be a bilangual area. Dutch and French.
That's crap obviously but we do like to pretend so =p.
As Langhe says: I would be shocked if foreigners were sad or worried because we don't have a government. That would be news =p.
Haha you are worrying more about how to call waffles, beer, chocolat,.. then the people =p

Brussels is bilingual, a majority speaks French, a minority speaks Dutch. It used to be Dutch-speaking (except for French-speaking bourgeoisie), but it was Frenchified during 19th and 20th century.

here we see it is about language...as long as French speakers do not learn other languages they are getting stronger...also all north african immigrant are ,if at all speaking, french speaking not dutch.
The green line shows that Dutch speaking Belgium learns French and other languages, but the French do not learn anything outside of their own.
In all cases the french speaking parties always say " this is what we want and how we want it done"...then the dutch speaking parties say their thing and they will say " let's do it somwhere in between ours and yours" .....and than the French reply would be " this is what we want and this is how we want it done"...not a single movement made!
anyone with experience in Belgium national political debat knows this...only thing is that most Belgium schoolchildren are taught by leftwing teachers, and they do not want to teel about the way the french(socialist by heart) are.....so it is taught that it is a two way system...well it is not.
In Belgium we see this clearly divided north-south , in countries like thye netherlands is is more evenly spread but also you will see rightwing-leftwing , where rightwing is mainly people who make money and pay all the taxes, and leftwing is spending those taxes....by no means this is equal level bussiness at all!

1. That immigrants choose French (which is logical for them) is indeed a problem. And that's a problem for themselves, as not speaking Dutch is a huge disadvantage in Flanders.
2. The green line just shows Brussels if Frenchified, nothing more.
3. We are not taught by leftwing teachers ... please, stop making everything about left/right. I was taught by the same teachers as the other Belgian kids.
4. Don't pretend you know the Belgian situation, it's ridiculous.
5. Don't see everything black/white, grey exists too.
6. Most of all, stop making yourself look like a complete unknowing rightwing populist I-know-it-all-and-everything-is-the-fault-of-the-linkiewinkies. Please, for your own sake.

wauw, i could actually agree on all those points!
You see, I'm not that extreme. Too bad you don't want to discuss with me ever ;-)
wow, glad to see, I taught you something :)
5. Don't see everything black/white, grey exists too.
Unfortunately, I cannot make a statement in another points, ´cause
a) these are your internal issues,
b) you know the best what´s going on in your country...

You didn't teach me anything. Believe me.
Interesting, ´cause it´s paraphrase of a sentence I told you few pages ago in this thread...but as you wish, I respect your opinion...
It's part of common knowledge ;-)
Which mod deleted my topics? As a mod, you HAVE to make yourself known when you intervene on the forums, that's in the rules. By the way, you'll have to delete the old one too or if you can, send it to the second page or something, there are too many messages, it's still going bananas as it shows too much unread messages. Also, there should be "Spamtopic 1 2 3 ... 2185" and there's only "Spamtopic 1 2 3 ..."And I put this here, because I don't want to use that fake spamtopic. I'll never put a message in that fake thing, or whatever it might be!

Do they actually learn them, then?
I cant say that what is taught now. When I was in grade school the countries of Europe WAS taught. BelNeLux is commonly used to describe those three countries in the US.
But to your point, I would say the geographic knowledge of USA students is not up to par with those in other countries. Often when I meet Europeans, to me, they as a group have much more knowledge of the US geography that we do of Europe and the world.

Hehe we sometimes even know more then your candidates for presidency: like who is florence nightingale?
We only have 1 country to learn? If europeans must tell you all the american states I think 50% would be able to name 50% of the states. Maybe slightly better then your knowledge of european countries (which number will increase if we give rubinho what he wants ;))

It was a bit of a joke. :-) I also referred to the 25 - 45 generation.
Well above we see why Belgium is so divided and it takes them so long to form a legal government; total ignorance and stupidity, thinking to be better ,rigther, smarter, goodlookinger than others...?
Why are you so easily upset if someone like me just states common knowledge, common sense...
If you read articles with the highest politicians from Belgium they speak the same , they all say the same, and I just put it down here.....and what I get is childish behaviour(again) by some scholars who are obviously very much indoctrinated by letwing socialist crap.
that is just my point here.

I think I'd come close naming 90% of the American states. But I seriously doubt 50% of Europeans can name 50% of the American states. There are as much states in the USA as there are fully recognized countries that are at least partially in Europe.
