Yes, it is hypocrisy if you write this as a statement that you agree with:

Religion is like a penis.
It's fine to have one.
It's fine to be proud of it.
But please don't whip it out in public and start waving it around,
and PLEASE don't try to shove it down children's throats.

If you personally don't agree with lines 2 and 3, then this whole statement doesn't make any sense for you and then I don't understand why you wrote it here. I personally do agree with this statement but starting from line 2. Line 1 is obsolete but you actually wrote it here mostly because of this rude comparison that you so "tolerantly" like.
Wow, you actually stil read mitch's posts. Now, that's tolerance! :)

I don't disagree with lines 2 and 3 ... Please, read what I write!

To be clear: "It's fine" = "I don't have problems with that", it doesn't mean I don't think it's idiotic, as I do think religion is idiotic.

LOL That semantics is really complicated :D

"It's fine" and "I don't have problems with that" are very different statements.

Let's see if the whole comparison works the same:
Religion is like a penis.
You don't have problems with having one.
You don't have problems with being proud of it.
But please don't whip it out in public and start waving it around,
and PLEASE don't try to shove it down children's throats.

Here, it's almost the same. :D
I've just been told I'm going to hell by a door to door Catholic. There better be my favourite bands down there :)

incorrigible optimist ;)

tranny?
Don't worry, they'll be there. It's just a question who will get there first. Stil, we're talking eternity here so it's no big deal. :P

There's a saying in Croatia, in paradise you have better climate, but all the party people are in hell. ;)
I say I don't disagree with those lines which makes I agree with the lines (double negation), try to read sometimes, it might help.

It's not complicated at all, but I get used to religious people trying to make it look complicated. You're not the first one.

"It's fine" means here "I don't have problems with you doing that in your private life".

Can I ask you this: what should I do then according to you? Should I say I have problems with you being catholic? I don't have problems with that, everyone makes his own choices, how stupid they (referring to the choices) can be.

I cannot do something else than to conclude you don't want me to be tolerant towards religious people, because I think religion is plain stupid. Too bad for you I am tolerant and non-religious.

You sound insulting when you say "how stupid they can be".

I'm not a believer of any kind, but I don't say that others who are, are stupid because they believe.
2011-07-13 13:42:13
I don't say believers are stupid... I even put this '(referring to the choices)' to clearly say the choices some people make are stupid, not the people themselves.

because I think religion is plain stupid

you are contradictory again.

i see what you write. i try to interpret that as a dialectical symbol (in a manner of j. lacan).
you are contradictory again.
