I'm beyond the point I think proving him wrong will have any influence at all. So I just laugh at him. I have given him arguments enough (both here and on Dutch forum), but the moment you do that, he says you're just a leftwing whatever. Sick of that, given that I'm not left at all.

This is an extreme semplification of politic games,
reading the history of medioriental wars you'll notice there are no war or conflict that are not planned in UK, France, Moskow or Washington.
Israel itself as a country started like that, for electoral problems in UK!

Happiness most certainly is not always a choice.

Not even happiness is a choice, happiness is an endresult ;) The goals you set yourself in life are choices and achieve those goals can give happiness, like helping others, find a nice job, have good friends, get kids, a lot of money etc etc. All are personal goals ofcourse as some will find happiness in helping others while the other find happiness in having a lot of money, or 1 of the other millions of goals people can have.

really think about it,
happiness is a choice you take, nothing else, you do not need anything else than yourself and your will.

I do not need to show haw many philofies and religion says the same thing in different way, I think Buddhistic example is the easier to understand (not that christian or muslim religion says something different in a close look...)

The point is usually missed is that the more thing YOU DECIDE to make the happiness dipend from..
the less you'll be happy.

You can find satisfaction of desideres and particular will, but this is the way of attachment to things, goals, people..
the happiness is far away from those things. happiness is a choice you take to be happy anyway, with o without a thing, a goal, a person..
It's not easy, but simply has no other choice.

The other ways is liyng to yourself because of you are not enough brave and bold to face the challenge.

Ok, if you think you can chose to be happy, good luck finding it .... but you won't ;) I will focus on my goals and hope they will give me happiness, that's much more realistic and measurable :)
