And you mostly refer to corruption.

Well, in my opinion this is a vast mistake.

What is crap is the human nature. Tyranny does not evolve from decent meaning or by honest people, whereas Democracy is.

It's mean people who spoil good system. Usually those who want to take advantage over other people and respond with bad attitude to positive approach.
It's people who do not believe in democracy, but utilize its rules against democracy itself.

I prefer to live in democracy with all shortcomings, rather than commit myself unconditionally to other people's (bad) will.

I prefer "Tyranny"... The average human goes crazy over power.
I can't imagine what would happen if everybody just felt as free as we can be.
Remove religion and law, the result is pure anarchy, primitive civilization,
pure bashing at each others to be the alpha in our genre...
wait... that is what happens... we are just more civilized... on a personal level...

Look at China, yes there is a lot of repression... but they went from a farming country
to a high tech competitive country, from third world to first world and economic power...
and not thanks to democracy...

when everybody pulls on their own, you wont move an inch but when
everybody pulls to one side...

democracy is greed, you vote on your on favor of your interests not on your neighbor interests
if democracy meant "who votes for a better life quality for the poor?" then it would be
that idea you got in mind but democracy is corrupted, you don't need a big company to bribe
a politician about helping him become richer, it is just purely convenient to the whole country
to support your rich... what would happen if another country would offer better banking
in the ways of cheaper interests and such? well it would mean everybody would put their money there
(wait... but that happens right now!), cheaper manufacturing?, general outsourcing?

The biggest bug in what you're writing, is the fact that you are able to write it.
Not only can you post everything that comes to your mind, oher people can read it, comment to it.

this is democracy, but the sad fact is that you do not appreciate it.

Greed is a human nature problem. It s absolutely not unique or not result of democracy.

The difference is that in democracy you can pin point anything you find inappropriate, and in tyranny, you may got jailed or if you are a Syrian, just get shot by your own government.

In all systems, it is more common that more bad people acheive high positions. In democracy their power is substantially more limited.

the question is what democracy we prefer...
the democracy that some parties "represent" you in all issues by voting once in 4 years?
or the real Democracy that citizens making choises by referendums in all critical issues?

democracy CAN'T be a service delivered to citizens at their home..
Democracy needs partecipation and work from representatives and representeds.

New information technologies open new possibiliti to democracy.
We must take this historical chance!
(we can start looking at Iceland example to have some ideas..)

@rumpil

First of all,i didn't say anything about facts
I just posted an article by a swedish newspaper, written by a swedish journalist that came to Greece and saw for herself the situation here
If you have any questions about the facts she wrote, ask her where she found them

And secondly,if you want to post some facts about the "Lazy Greek bastards and their huge salaries" search some reliable sites like Eurostat or their Greek branch (http://www.statistics.gr/portal/page/portal/ESYE) and not the shitty wikipedia with facts last updated in 2006
Also helpful ILO (Intenational Labour Office) and OECD

too bored to actually find them for you, like it's gonna change the opinion you have for us
thank god there are rational people out there like victorph and StefNihon

sorry, but I dont matter how old is that data, that salary is miracle for country like Greece, extremely huge, that in wiki from 2006.
Maybe now you have lower average salary, but you lived in luxury condition in 2006 and previous years.

If there is so huge average salary in 2006 in my country I would have new car today !
2011-09-22 19:03:28
and fact is that you have loans more than 100% of GDP.... so what to say, this is just sad fact and so huge loans is not able to make any country just in maybe 10 years. my country has about 35-40% loans and we change government because we dont want more. You could do that too 20 years before.

I dont know what to said now (I dont want to be aggresive on you), it is your story, your mistake and I am not guilty because of this !
2011-09-22 19:05:15
you have same conditions, same problems as we have, we all are in EU.... or not, you have sea and great history for tourism... so your country has much better conditions as Slovakia has....
2011-09-23 01:51:21
or the real Democracy that citizens making choises by referendums in all critical issues?

Democracy in the EU is then, when the referendum result is consistent with the expectations of the ruling - see the Irish referendum on the Lisbon Treaty.
