Rubinho, can you make update of new Belgian gov and activities after couple of months :) ? Is it working and what about debt?

Government made 11 billion government cuts (real government cuts + increase of taxes), trade unions protested (majorly against increase early retirement age). Seems like it's not enough (to have a deficit of less than 2,8%), they'll probably have to make an additional 2-3 billion of government cuts / increase of taxes because of low economic growth.

1. The opposition AGAINST the strike seemed larger than the will to strike, so I don't think this will majorly influence the electorate.
2. No. 3,75 billion of cuts in social sector.

New taxes (3,75 billion)
- increase of tax on securities (bonds, ...)
- decrease of notional tax deduction
- crisis contribution for the highest capitals
- tax on first class plane tickets
- increase of taxes on alcohol and tobacco
- decrease of the company car deduction

Cuts (3,75 billion)
- less expenditures in health care
- stronger controll on social benefits
- decrease of the development budget
- increase of service cheques
- abolition of the 'clean car bonus'
- saving in government pensions

Miscellaneous (3,2 billion)
- bank tax
- nuclear tax
- increase the controll for fraud

+ less intrest payments on national debt
