I understand you believe in UE project.
Parts of it yes, but absolutely not all.
One of the problems I have with the EU is that many, too many, of the laws we have to obey nowadays are made in Brussels, decided by representatives of countries who should not interfere with my country as too many of these countries don't have the same mentality, standards, history, etc. In my eyes for example southern and eastern Europe is completely different as north-western Europe.
If you look at the number of votes each EU country has and represented political parties in Europe vs the Dutch EU votes and political demography in the Netherlands, you will understand the problem I have with this all:
wiki -Council of the European Union
Not to mention the unfairness looking at how much EU votes the Netherlands has and how much we pay the EU as net contributors vs the number of votes countries have as net recipients:
government.nl - European economic and monetary policy
wiki - Budget of the European Union

I think the main problem of EU is its undemocratic system of government.
It doesn't matter if UE parlament is elected, most important decisions does not pass from parlament, but from UE commission.
the other big problem is the coin, we can't have the same euro.
It is killing us, economically, both, north and south.

That's why I'm pro European cooperation (for obvious reasons: economies of scale), but against this European Union.
I will agree for a democratic process of integration (referndum for every step) that leads us to a greater integration of labouor market, fiscal laws, policy/security laws, schoolarship, social rights etc..
at the end of this process (50 years or more) an unificated coin could be possible.
But EU build up itself on the opposite way, first build a cage with euro, then unify the prisoners..
very un-democratic!

A referendum for each step? How long do you want it to take before decisions can be made? This will make it worse as it is right now, even more bureaucratic problems for the overpaid EU officials. And how much money do you think these referendums will cost each time? This will make the EU even more expensive.
And yes, the Euro was a problem for me the moment it was proposed. Back then I used the example that I didn't want to pay for the problems in southern Italy, and now I'm paying for even bigger problems because of the mess of some other countries :/

Drone attacks:
George W. Bush: 52
Barack Obama: 311
George W. Bush: 52
Barack Obama: 311
Technology can now kill 160 innocent children. Go go technology. Go go democracy.
Drones really got cheaper since the Bush era, and they have more function too. Maybe there will be a time, when even poor countries and terrorists will be able to afford drones. I guess by that time, Americans will demand to regulate and limit the usage of drones. Now they're just not interested yet. It really doesn't matter if their gov is dem or rep.
Also, if there would be no drone attacks, there would be bombardments and helicopter-attacks instead. And those have also killed lots of innocent people.

Yes, because the States should permanently be attacking other countries...

Indeed, they have too much weapons inside their country, thus they have to use them outside too top be sure they work fine...
It almost sounds like if republicans would be the representatives of peace... :) Isolationism is gone after Pearl Harbor. Since then America has never been like what Ron Paul says. They did too many things around the world.
Now that they caused so much chaos, I think it would be neither wise nor morally acceptable to just withdraw from everywhere, while acting like a saint.

That's not what I meant. Not at all. I'm just saying Obama is not better.

What does Ron Paul has to do with isolationism? Nothing, nothing at all. He's pro non-interventionism.

Unless you say that republicans are better than Obama, we agree. Which side leads the US has little to do with American military and foreign policy, only the tone is different.
He's pro non-interventionism.
You can call it whatever you want, but what he says has no reality on short and middle-term, and in the long run, we are all dead. However it sounds very good for the people, who want peace. He's a politician, he says what his audience is receptive for.

That's unfair. You cannot call Paul a populist. He's been saying the same thing over and over again for over thirty years.
