It is not easy for us to understand with our eyes how Arab nations operate.
Example for that is how Hafez el Asad, wiped out the city of hammet at the uprising of 1980's, killing thousands at the process.

The big difference why you see violence at Libya and you didnt see it in Tunis and Egypt is because their leaders look to the west, but not only because of that. Power of the government at Egypt was based upon the military, which in turn based his power on the people. Egypt has 3 years mandatory army recruit, which means the army firstly belong to the people. More than that, Egypt is much more modern, in their style of life than Libya.
About Tunis my knowledge isnt extensive therefore I dont want to be wrong about there, but I could tell you that its a modern country, burks are rarely seen in Tunis, specially at the cities which hold most of uprisings. Their tourism is far and great, which brings progress and the understanding, governments cant slay their own people.

Most arab countries unlike Libya, arent tribe based countries and have a majority which doesnt always rule.

Gay rights: I think when history will judge us 200-300 hundred years from now, they will look at us as history looks at USA in the years of racism and the oppression of slaves and African-Americans.
It was only 50 years ago and their situation isnt good yet.

One thing I agree with you, UNO, and any other UN organization base its decisions on pressure groups, and most of it is based on oil assets, and there is rarely a chance for a decision based on real human rights issues, or other wise.
One of the big countries is selling weapons or technology to the country in stake is enough to hold off an act. You could see it happening in Iran's race for nuclear weapons.
Also you can check the difference between how UN is dealing with Saudi's invasion to Bahrain and UN resolution against Qaddafi.

I urge you to look up hammat up rising, which was wiped out.

As long as to sides are listening, it is worth the time...

this is small offtopic but look :-) (I will read your post later)

U.S. rescue team shoot six Libyan civilians rushing to greet downed American fighter crew

The rest of this article clearly shows that civilians are glad to see Americans on their land.
From this article it looks like situation is for the good of the citizens.

yes... I have no doubt that some of inhabitants like Americans on their land.

Couple of people here told also this:
"Not Libya but just Kaddafi is rich...."

And today I am reading in one news something like this:
- Kaddafi dont have most of his money in USD or € on accounts in banks, he has a lot of gold hidden in his country, so he is now able to finance army by his gold.

And now, two questions:

1. Is really Kaddafi so cruel, that he owns most of gold which maybe belongs to Libyan people, or Kaddafi just await this situation because he never wanted to accepted US rules/politics so he is just man of strategy ?

2. Why is Kaddafi spending "his own gold" for defending country ? If he just cheat Libyans people and was stealing state finances for years, why now is using his savings for country ? Has it sense ?
He can easily buy new identity or maybe buy small island for retirement, Kaddafi is not target of army, UNO dont blame him as killer or so... / dont want to kill him (that is official info), so he can live even in New York with such a nice pension.

I am sure, somebody will give me answer :-)

1. Qaddafi is probably isnt more cruel than other middle east regime. The fact that he is a bit crazy and lashed out against his civilians and western countries didnt serve him well.

2. Kdaffi has no chance of taking his money and living elsewhere, Sadam who was one of the richest people in the world had to do the same when his country was attacked.
If Kadaffi regime goes down Kadaffi and his sons wil face execution and worse.

It is sad to say, but most dictators in this regime are richer than life.
Saudi Arabia with all its princes, Yasser Arafat who was filthy rich, king of Bahrain leaders of egypt, Syria and the list goes on.

Of course he doesnt want to give up his power that made him the rich man that he his, he wants to secure his future thrown. He wants to secure his blood will keep ruling.

Look at the situation at Africa, filled with natural resources, almost 80% of the world's resources are coming from poor countries which stay poor except from their leaders.

Kaddafi is not declared a criminal as Husajn was .. by UNO or US..
(btw Husajn died because of nuclear weapons which never existed :-( )
Your aversion of the States is closing your eyes.
Why do you think this ?
I have just aversion of aggressive politics, when economics interest is hiding behind human rights.
USA is nice country, with huge technology lead and in 19st century there was really nice start of democracy and car business :-)

Where the oil-democracy must necessarily be ! This American approach to the question!
What is happening today in Iraq?
Politics always go about economic interests. Always. Whether you like it or not ;-)

go and destroy other nations and countries or how ??
Kadhaffi is destroying Libya, not NATO.

Look, I'm a pacifist, I don't like war at all. However, I make exceptions for 'leaders' who shoot at their own people.
I absolutely agree with you! Tunisia and Egypt, this is of no interest. It would be funny-if it were not so sad. (( East-delicate matter!
So rumpil, you are against the attack on Libya by NATO? So, if NATO hadn't attacked Libya, what would you propose to 'solve' the Libyan problem?
