Subject: »NEWS AROUND THE WORLD

Quite frankly, I'm getting worried. Putting philosophical books you don't like in the SciFi category is dangerous. Are you okay? ;-)

I couldn't have said it better: But Is It Science Fiction? - Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged

Just answer the question. Do you put Marx in the SciFi category or not? If not, what's the difference?

and

Lol what you want, it seems you have difficulties answering questions. I'm just holding a mirror, Charles, it seems like you can't handle it. ;-)

I gave you an answer. You come up with the examples marxism and communism as valid theories while the whole communist world feld appart some years ago. That is prove enough it isn't a valid theorie at all. Same problem that will never make this theory valid, the logic is missing: to make communism work you have to ignore and rule out well known and common human characteristics which will never correspond with the theory and just can't be ignored and ruled out.

First of all, every single time you try you show me that you don't know a thing about my ideology. Secondly, if you're not answering my questions, I'm not answering yours. The mirror, Charles, the mirror. Look at it! ;-)

You can't answer as you don't do a thing to make your ideology work. I gave a lot of examples of things you don't do, but you can't mention a single thing you actually do, other than posts on a game forum.

Another problem is you switch between objectivism and libertarianism whenever it suits you to say I don't understand your ideology. Libertarianism is the polical ideology, so that's what I'm talking about.

Haven't watched the video, but you make the classic mistake: Jews ≠ Israel.

Jews is race of people living around the world, Israel is a country.
I couldn't have said it better: But Is It Science Fiction? - Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged

The point is to make a difference between a movie / book that just wants to imagine about a possible future and a book like Atlas Shrugged, which deals with a philosophical question. By putting those two categories together, you make it easy for others to call different philosophical approaches than their own SciFi. And if you ask me, that's not a good thing.

and

Now answer the question: do you put Marx in SciFi or not? Because from you point of view, he's even more SciFi than Rand - if you ask me. Marx makes claims about what IS going to happen. Rand just asks herself (and her readers): what if? What if this happens? Without making the claim that it IS going to happen. Ergo, Marx is more SciFi than Rand.

Of course Marxism is a valid theory. That's out of the question, really. There is a Marxist logic behind it. One I disagree with, but then again, if I only would accept theories valid if I agreed with the inner logic, the only thing I'd be left with is libertarianism as a valid theory. And you'd only be left with your social democracy theory as a valid theory. Once again, not a good thing if you ask me.

Edit: Yes, I'm aware of the fact that you don't call yourself a social democrat. As long as you don't have a name for it, I'm gonna keep on calling you that. (And no, I'm not calling you a social-liberal democrat. I refuse to call you partially liberal.)

You can't answer as you don't do a thing to make your ideology work. I gave a lot of examples of things you don't do, but you can't mention a single thing you actually do, other than posts on a game forum.

Like I said - but you (deliberately?) ignore that -, my ideology is not 'people do good'. But you have very little understanding about that, apparently.

Another problem is you switch between objectivism and libertarianism whenever it suits you to say I don't understand your ideology. Libertarianism is the polical ideology, so that's what I'm talking about.

I rest my case. I never said I'm an objectivist. Never. Ever. You understand? Never. I'm a libertarian. Period.

I'm just saying Rand has interesting ideas to think about. But apparently, you refuse to think about (political/philosophical) ideas you don't fully embrace. That's sad.

Blurred for obvious reasons, shit!

Because from you point of view, he's even more SciFi than Rand - if you ask me. Marx makes claims about what IS going to happen.

That's actually science. Theory leads to predictions, then empirical work potentially debunks theory (it can't actually prove it, so it's a matter of "not false so far" :P).

Anyway, the thread grows pages long without need: I'll help you summarize your answer to whatever is raised here:

:P

Winter is coming in Egypt. Arab spring, what a joke. Where is the left now, saying "we should give Morsi a chance". He's a dictator. And the situation for for instance Christians (I'm not defending their religion, I'm defending their right to believe what they want and their right to express that belief) hasn't improved much since Mubarak has gone. I'm wondering seriously wondering whether a liberal democracy and Islam are compatible.

I don't think confessional states and liberal democracies are compatible.

But, apart from that, whatever you may say about them, I think there is a huge gap between Turkey and Egypt. And in Turkey they have a lot of, you know, muslims...
And in Turkey, YouTube gets blocked by the government if there are movies on it that are insulting Mohamed.

So yes, in Turkey, the situation is better than in Egypt. There is - however - no country in which the Muslims form the majority than can be considered a relatively liberal democracy.
Dude, I live in Germany and Youtube gets blocked all the time by much less than that :P

Actually, I don't need videos insulting Mohamed at all. So I would trade Turkey's government for GEMA any day XD

I'm not talking about individual videos. I'm talking about YouTube in a whole. I seriously doubt the German government shuts down YouTube in a whole.

These people just think that democracy=dictatorship of majority. When majority love Mohammed they will push own agenda over minorities. It needs time, question is safety of these minorities until they will get more tolerant.

it seems those womens has "more balls" (more braveness) than many men, to criticaze islam.

As Orwell said many time ago, the political correction is the "auto censura"(it means when no one tells you to be quiet about any topic but the political correction tells you so...and you obbey) that exists today. many fear to those crazy "i put a bomb as a suicide" people, meaning p.e. that if a drawer wants to criticaze islam he cant and has to say sorry and etc

religicion wich lives on the middle ages are a threat to the nowadays freedom

about turkey, i always thought they were a democracy more or less, havent heard about turkish gov shouting youtube
havent heard about turkish gov shouting youtube

Google that, and you'll find plenty of information. It was a total disgrace. Erdogan is not a big fan of the Kemalist state. Not at all.
No wonder. They arrested him, and banned his party.
